The Senior Director, Product Delivery Project Management role has accountability for leading the creation and implementation of integrated product development and delivery plans for molecules from portfolio entry to launch.  This position is the strategic, operational, and Project Management lead for the molecule and will co-lead the team with the technical leader, who is accountable for the technical aspects of product development.  These objectives will be accomplished by utilization of key project management tools and techniques such as development and management of the project scope, use of critical path methodology, budget management, and development of a risk management plan including mitigation strategies and contingency plans. It is essential that the advisor effectively communicates and manages key stakeholders both within product development and across the MDU and business units.  Moreover, the advisor is accountable for cross-functional communication, anticipating and resolving issues with the team, ensuring documentation of key team/asset information and decisions, and ensuring project management systems are up to date.  Furthermore, the advisor is accountable for quarterly forecasting, business planning, change controls, resource quotes and resource assessments associated with the portfolio as it relates to product delivery.  Moreover, this role is accountable to enable and support metrics and business reviews monthly in coordination with the product delivery portfolio support leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Molecule product development and delivery project management: Leading the creation and delivery of integrated product development and delivery of molecules, including translation of the technical development strategy and product delivery strategy. 

  • Effectively communicate with and manage key stakeholders both within the product development and across the MDU and business units.

  • Proactively escalate and manage issues, propose mitigation/response plans to resolve issues and effectively implement the action plan Accountability for assigned molecules, which may be large or small molecule, within the assigned business unit(s).

  • Accountable for effective implementation of and strive to improve standard business management processes such as capacity/budget estimation, planning, allocation, and tracking. 

  • Forecasts resource needs and manages allocated budget.

  • Lead team to prepare for and present at governance or leadership meetings as needed.

  • Educate customers and management on performance improvement and training initiatives.

  • Participate on Due Diligence teams and lead development of the CMC plan.

  • Provide strategic leadership at program core team meetings to ensure CMC concerns and deliverables are appropriately addressed.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to provide CMC options that add value to the molecule’s development plan.

  • Accountable for managing quarterly forecasting, business planning, change controls, resource quotes and resource assessments associated with assigned assets.

  • Accountable to provide metrics and business reviews monthly in coordination with the various planners and leaders within product delivery for assigned assets.

  • Identify, propose, and support solutions for a range of organizational and operational problems and technical challenges.  Include appropriate use of six sigma methodologies and ensure project management is appropriately represented and involved in cross-functional process improvement projects.

  • Accountable for effective shared learning across the function as well as application of shared learning and best practices.

  • Build and maintain effective teams.

  • Champion commitment to quality and ensure quality of staff work products.

Basic Qualifications

  • Four-year degree, preferably in a health-related, scientific, or engineering field.  Prefer advanced degrees (PhD, MS, MBA, PharmD, or master’s in project management).

  • 3+ years of work experience with basic project management tools and processes (e.g., management of integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement as defined by Project Management Body of Knowledge).

  • 10+ years of experience (or with PhD 5+ years of experience) in any of the following areas: drug discovery and development, clinical drug development, CT material supply chain, CMC, quality, or commercial manufacturing.

Additional Preferences

  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, ability to manage dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrate ability to identify and prioritize problems, develop, and implement solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead an organization (formal or informal). Additional skills/preferences

  • Experience as a team member on a program or product team OR on a CMC team

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Practical experience performing project management for a cross-functional project preferably in a project management role within LRL License/Certificate Requirements:  None, prefer PMP and/or Critical Chain Certification

  • Fluent in English
