The Preformulation team at Moderna is seeking highly motivated co-op students to assist with assay development for chemical and biophysical characterization of drug substance, raw materials, and drug product. The successful candidates will be performing advanced characterization and analysis of vaccines and medicines in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment. Two positions are available, and they will both involve the application of novel and existing approaches to identify optimal experimental parameters for formulation design.
Our summer/fall co-op program is from July 17-December 15, 2023. All applicants must be available for the entire duration of the program.
Heres What Youll Do:
Develop an assay from concept to functional tool and tech transfer the technique to the team through daily lab engagement.
Perform experiments using a broad range of biophysical and analytical techniques, including HPLC, DLS, capillary electrophoresis, DSC, and X-ray scattering.
Develop new software and utilize existing code for data reduction and visualization.
Carry out existing protocols and develop novel experimental strategies which may include building and using automation tools.
Maintain detailed scientific records of experiments.
Collaborate and share findings across departments.
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelors program (Junior/ Senior Year)
Background in chemistry, biophysics, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, materials engineering, or related field.
Experience working in a lab; knowledge of general chemical safety protocols.
Previous intern/ co-op experience preferred
Experience with coding (esp. Python) preferred
Instrument/analytical experience preferred
Effective written and oral communication skills
