General Scope and Summary

Sage is searching for a Contracts Coordinator to assist in maintaining a portfolio of contracts and business relationships within the Medical Affairs function. This role provides administrative support and requires analytical, project management, and systems management skills as well as expert computer skills to efficiently navigate and manage several databases related to contracts/purchase orders. The Contracts Coordinator will work independently to process contracts including confidentiality agreements, vendor agreements, HCP engagements, etc. as well as approvals of POs and finalized contracts.

The successful candidate will work independently and be a proactive team player who is motivated by their contributions to the success of Medical Affairs and Sage Therapeutics overall.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Independently review and process contracts by preparing and comparing incoming agreements with previously executed agreements.

  • Create purchase order requisitions, ensuring proper communication with vendor and coordination with internal teams on services rendered.

  • Assist Medical Affairs team members with timely execution of basic and complex contracts.

  • Liaise between Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Finance, and other departments as necessary.

  • Implement opportunities for business process development and/or improvement of internal processes and capabilities that contribute to successful pursuit of collaborations with vendors and partners.

  • Assist in maintaining business relationships with the current portfolio of vendors and partners by working with personnel and outside contacts to satisfy both partner and organization goals.

  • Increase institutional knowledge related to contract development and support, including all new systems and processes.

  • Review and maintain familiarity with policies and procedures and assist with implementing changes to policies and procedures.

  • Maintain and develop standards for Medical Affairs contract processes.

  • Provide ongoing support to functions by ensuring timely process updates and delivering information related to contract issues.

  • Meet with functional representatives to resolve issues.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, and the ability to identify issues and raise to key stakeholders to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate's degree.

  • 2+ years of progressively responsible experience in contract development and support, project management, and/or business development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of contract documents including CDAs, MSAs, CTAs, and POs, etc.

  • Basic understanding of financial principles of accrual-based accounting and budget forecasting.

  • Alternatively, a Bachelors degree or equivalent and 1+ year of progressively responsible experience in contract development and support, project management, and/or business development would be considered for this position.

  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices pertaining to supporting and finalizing corporate contracts and agreements in compliance with sponsor, federal, and state policies and regulations.

  • Knowledge of drug development and clinical operation processes and documentation.

  • Familiarity with intellectual property, technology transfer, conflict of interest, and conflict of commitment concepts.

  • Familiarity with development of department budgets and the annual operating plan.

  • Familiarity with new vendor requirements.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal/team skills.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior.

  • Strategic and analytical skills with an ability to make decisions and solve problems.

  • Proficient in Oracle systems, MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Knowledge of MS Project preferred.

  • Established ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues and effectively manage timelines.

Benefits and Compensation The base salary hiring range for this position is $58,457 - $80,378.*
  • The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, education, skills, and performance.
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Companys annual bonus plan; the bonus varies based on performance and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program.
