Job Details

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our 35,000 employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

Lilly’s Digital Office team is focused on leveraging next generation therapeutic ecosystems, connected devices, data and analytics to transform patient experiences and improving treatment outcomes. This team is committed to meeting patients where they are, through the design and development of innovative science-driven, patient-centered health technology, such as connected devices and digital biomarkers in clinical trials and mobile apps that can deliver personalized treatment plans alongside our medicines.

You’ll be joining our Incubation Lab, a design and technology team re-imagining our approach to human-centered design innovation and rapid concept development at Lilly. We define, envision and shape differentiated customer experiences that empower individuals to live their best lives, as unencumbered by their condition as possible.

About the Role

As a Design Lead for the Incubation Lab, you’ll pair strategic acumen with a deep passion for craft to define future experiences that motivate, guide and support individuals across their health journey. Through a blend of direct contribution and oversight, the Design Lead will navigate complex opportunity areas, conditions, and drug delivery ecosystems to create proof-of-concepts that pair scientific research with human-centered design to achieve better health outcomes.

Though it all, you’ll collaborate constantly with cross-functional partners and stakeholders in pursuit of a new bar for best-in-class healthcare experiences.

Responsibilities

Combine design crafting with a deep empathy for human needs, capabilities, behaviours, and emotions to produce effective design solutions that meet the needs of a diverse range of individual capabilities or limitations.

Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to translate ambiguous ideas into actionable problem statements and lead solutioning exercises to generate concepts and prototypes that clearly define ideal future state experiences.

Cultivate and grow relationships with partner functions to foster a shared sense of the user-centricity and demonstrate how design drives business value through better experiences and products.

Leverage considerable and demonstrable design expertise to offer mentorship, guidance, and objective critique to elevate and uphold the design quality bar across products and prototypes.

Articulate design decisions and rationale effectively and persuasively to a wide-range of non-technical and executive-level stakeholders to ensure alignment across programs.

Understand when and to proceed and when to pivot ideas, based on rapidly evolving circumstances and emerging insights from users or internal subject-matter experts.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Graphic Design, User Experience, Visual Communication, Digital Media or related field.

  • OR High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of experience in design with 5+ years of experience leading individual designers and creatives in complex environments.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills

Past experience designing products for healthcare or reasonable analogs across similar complex, highly-regulated environments.

Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks (e.g. React) or animation tools to demonstrate design intent through high-fidelity prototypes or simulations.

A history of creating visual languages or brands, crafting compelling visual stories from a limited (or non-existent) pool of assets.

Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $116,250 to $170,500 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience.
