DIRECTOR, SALES TRAINING

 

Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Director, Sales Training for our Product Business Department. The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the development and execution of Emergent’s global comprehensive sales training programs. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, public health threats, Narcan, market competitors, regulatory and legal landscapes, disease state and product training and selling skills. Training programs prepare Emergent teams to effectively engage with customers and educate on the benefits of commercial products. Serves as an integral member of the Commercial team, this role partners with senior leadership, Sales, Marketing, and internal SME partners, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities and supporting Brand Plan execution. In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

The Director Commercial Training is responsible and accountable for the development and execution of Emergent’s global comprehensive sales training programs. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, public health threats, Narcan, market competitors, regulatory and legal landscapes, disease state and product training and selling skills. Training programs prepare Emergent teams to effectively engage with customers and educate on the benefits of commercial products. Serves as an integral member of the Commercial team, this role partners with senior leadership, Sales, Marketing, and internal SME partners, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities and supporting Brand Plan execution.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales training curriculum that aligns with core competencies supporting the overall business strategy, targeted at Emergent customer-facing personnel.
  • Act as the project lead for readiness of all documents, training materials, event correspondence, agendas, and approvals
  • Oversee and manage all vendor relationships during the creation and build of training materials; ensures all curricula are properly maintained and approved via the Promotional Review Committee
  • Coordinate field sales events including POAs, NSMs, and other field sales events
  • Develop and execute a curriculum road map with strategic imperatives to include short and long-term objectives with key stakeholders to evolve the training continuum.
  • Engage senior leaders to identify, prioritize and execute skill development for their respective teams.
  • Measure and monitor the impact of training on the business and for continued process improvement.
  • Facilitate learning sessions for newly hired team members and help assess the individual results and overall effectiveness of the delivered training.
  • Manage training budget expenses against forecast.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech experience, preferably in the vaccine   business, or with large government customers
  •  Minimum 3 years’ experience delivering or managing sales training program in a pharmaceutical or large government buyer type space.
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage a varied set of responsibilities and to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed, global organization preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical countermeasures market, global health security, preparedness issues are highly desirable.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical and/or drug-device legal/regulatory/compliance environment a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and operational skills, attention to detail and judgment
  • Ability to build consensus across functions.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills and the ability to interact professionally.
  • Analytical and forward thinker, results oriented, self-organized and self-starter.
