Automation Engineer

Our Lonza site in Lexington, MA is seeking an Automation Engineer.  This incumbent is responsible to support ongoing Lonza operations through technical assistance as it relates to the manufacturing and process automation systems. Provides a technical resource to operations customers to ensure that instrumentation and automation systems are designed and operating to meet production needs.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop technical knowledge on manufacturing equipment and processes automation systems.
• Managing Metrology Department and review of Metrology documents.,
• Assist with tech transfer, projects, and process improvements as needed.
• Support resolution of equipment breakdowns and quality issues in the suites
• Conduct troubleshooting and technical analyses on manufacturing equipment and processes automation systems including PI data analyses, review/troubleshooting code, etc. Both during normal business hours and as part of an on-call rotation.
• Performs all work safely and meets the requisite training requirements.
• Participates in IPT/JPT in addition to other meetings as the Controls representative
• Initiates change controls and participates in all aspects of the change controls process.
• Complete change request lot assessments to support lot release
• Review SOPs, Functional Specifications, and work instructions

Key requirements:

• Associate degree required in Engineering or Computer Science related field
• Bachelor's of Science preferred
• Industry experience in Pharma/Biotech or equivalent industrial automation
• Must have minimum 4 years’ experience in operating and manipulating manufacturing equipment related to GMP drug substance manufacturing
• Solid cGMP experience  
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with focus on Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability to think critically and logically
