Position Description:

The Strategic Account Manager is a member of the Account Management team within Lilly Marketing Studios (LMS). The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for supporting the Strategic Account Lead in creating a trusted partnership with BU leadership, brand teams, external agencies and internal partners in order to lead operational strategic planning and execution, in alignment with Business Unit prioritization. The Strategic Account Manager will leverage strong project management acumen combined with analytical skill and process knowledge to achieve customer experience objectives by driving speed and efficiency throughout the promotional materials lifecycle. When needed, the Strategic Account Manager will rapidly escalate issues so that leadership can be proactively engaged in solutions and trade-off decisions.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Know Lilly, our customers, internal and external business partners, and our specialty.
    • Develop effective relationships with peers at engaged agencies, internal capabilities (e.g., Omni) and LMS.
    • Understand evolving best practices for communicating with customers in various promotional channels.
    • Demonstrate deep understanding of information and material flows, processes, procedures, systems and methods.
    • Demonstrate understanding of internal and external business partners’ people, processes and technology.
    • Exhibit understanding of the healthcare environment, the pharmaceutical industry, and marketplace.
    • Possess understanding of Lilly’s compliance standards and quality requirements (e.g., CIQ, MLR processes, key content approval, FDA, etc.)
    • Maintain working knowledge of the unique requirements and considerations associated with supported brands.
  • Support Operational Strategic Planning and Execution
    • Partner with Strategic Account Lead to operationalize brand strategy to ensure the right work is being done at the right time to meet in-market dates for the calendar year.
    • Serve as secondary partner to Marketers during business planning; coordinate across external agencies and LMS peers to create initial Master Backlogs.
    • Support prioritization discussions; engage peers as needed to counsel brand teams and avoid wasteful approaches to achieving customer experience objectives.
    • Ongoing support to the Strategic Account Lead in agile planning processes to monitor cross-functional team capacity, project scope, and timing.
    • Manage campaign and project management software (e.g., Wrike, Scope Deliver, CAP, VVPM)

  • Optimize Effectiveness across Business Unit
    • Ensure focus on Team Lilly approach and enhance collaboration across all engaged parties (Marketers, MRO, external agencies, internal partners, LMS)
    • Identify opportunities to improve understanding of requirements and process by the extended team; coordinate with internal partners to deliver training as needed.
    • Escalate capacity concerns, scope creep, project risks.

Basic Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience working within a regulated industry (e.g., pharma)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Preferences:

  • 1+ years’ experience in Lilly Marketing Studios, Agency Account Management, Marketing, Multi-Channel, or comparable roles
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven planning and organizational skills
  • Experience with campaign and project management software (e.g., Wrike, Scope Deliver, CAP)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Strong Project Management Acumen
  • Experience with promotional approval systems (e.g., Veeva Vault Promo Mats)
  • Able to influence, collaborate and work effectively on a team
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Skilled at analysis, judgment and decision making, with an eye toward quality and continuous improvement
