About the role:

Join Takeda as our next Global Meetings and Travel Innovation Manager. In this role you will play a role in driving the execution of Takeda's Meetings and Travel Center of Excellence innovation strategy. This includes driving innovation through input into the strategy, management and implementation of products across the global portfolio and being a conduit between the business teams, Data Digital & Transformation Team (DD&T), key stakeholders, and suppliers.

In this role, you will keep informed and aware of market trends, strategy of key players, and

all disruptors and new start ups in the travel, meetings & events arena. You will also manage the travel, meetings & events technology deployment, maintenance, updates, and communications. This position will have responsibility for the implementation of new processes, systems, and technologies.

How you will contribute:
  • Input into shaping the Global Innovation strategy alongside the Global Meetings and Travel Center of Excellence Leader and team
  • Managing the global product portfolio strategy across meetings and travel alongside digital, data & technology teams both internally and externally (online tools, attendee management tools, budget reconciliation tools, mobile apps, etc) to establish a cohesive approach to technology and good user experience and maintain high performing product teams; driving increased platform improvement and aiding delivery of client services (through automation, AI and additional insights)
  • Drive product roadmaps aligned to the global strategy
  • Work closely with the Meeting and Travel Center of Excellence Leader and the business, ideating new ideas, understanding and documenting requirements, and creating business cases to present to leadership
  • System architecture: candidate should be able to design and implement complex systems that meet the organizations needs and understand how different components of a system interact with each other and be able to make technical decisions that maintain harmony in the overall architecture of the system
  • Responsible for understanding linkages between cross functional systems and data dependencies
  • Facilitate error resolution due to data transmission between cross functional systems
  • Responsible for developing best practices, managing all travel and meetings technology module updates, training and developing standard operating procedures
  • Point of contact for day-to-day operational issues with all third-party platforms used for travel (OBT, GDS, rate shop tools, aggregators, etc) and meetings and events (program agendas, badges, registration, mobile app, budgets, communication, collateral, promotion & surveys)
  • Assess how we research, evaluate, design and implement automated solutions that meet the business needs in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.
  • Stay abreast of technology solutions in the marketplace to ensure we are providing best in class solutions by attending alternative travel, event, and other related technology demos
  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers on necessary API’s or technology integrations
  • Attends webinars and virtual lessons for all third-party platforms on new module releases, best practices, modifications, pending sunsets and roadmaps. Applies key learnings to TME offering when applicable
  • Participates in discovery calls using a consultative approach to understand meeting needs.
  • Focus on the goals and objectives of the program in order to make effective recommendations and anticipate issues and outcomes
  • Provide support for technology-related functions as needed such as: building registration sites, and/or generating reports as needed
  • Collaborate with GDS, OBT and all 3rd party technology company’s leadership on the management and oversight of the Travel, Meetings & Events support team to ensure we are using the resource to the maximum
  • Be a conduit between the business, technology, activation teams and the various stakeholders, including the innovation leadership within Takeda, and with external partners, technology delivery teams, business leadership and practitioners
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of travel and meetings technology experience in a corporate or consulting environment
  • At least 5 years experience, with a minimum of 2 unique corporate OBT (Concur, GetThere, etc) and 2 unique GDS (Amadeus, Sabre, etc) including but not limited to native GDS experience and administrative OBT access, configuration, and updates
  • Experience with travel and meetings data analytics, focus should be with either in-house or third-party data aggregator tools, GDS, and OBT; be able to reverse-engineer issues to problem-solve, piecing together backend data (GDS history, error logs, etc)
  • Knowledge of the technical framework of Cvent, OBT (Concur, Cytric etc) GDS (Sabre, Amadeus etc)
  • Must have working knowledge of local and global data privacy laws and regulations While managing Pharma guidelines, Sunshine Act and the European regulations for HCPs in all technology deployed.
  • Understand data driven decision making and experience with data analytics tools and techniques. This includes deep knowledge in how to collect, store, process, and analyze data, as well as how to use data to inform technical decisions
  • Must have working knowledge of travel data and, in particular, how shopping and booking data is structured (to include search parameters and results, bookings, and other travel data constructs)
  • Multi-lingual preferred
