Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence
Located in Foster City, CA
The Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence will collect, curate, synthesize and deliver key insights and implications on the competitive environment, to support Gilead portfolio products ranging from early phase development to established brands. Key disease areas will include immunology/inflammation (eg, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease, atopic dermatitis) and invasive fungal infections. The Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence should identify and effectively communicate regarding overarching strategies, development programs, and commercial capabilities of key competitors, and overall market trends. The Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence will prioritize CI activities based on strategic business questions defined in partnership with the therapeutic area CI Lead and relevant cross-functional stakeholders, including Commercial, Medical Affairs, Portfolio Strategy, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Corporate Development, and others.

The salary range for this position is: $160,820.00 - $208,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:
- Gathering, curating, summarizing and reporting competitive information
- Providing context and objective analysis of competitive (commercial, clinical, and scientific) information to inform business decision-making
- Leading core CI initiatives, including efficacy/safety/label comparisons, congress coverage, workshops, monitoring/news
- Creating/updating content on competitor products, launch timings, and product profiles
- Mapping and assessing competitive dynamics in key indications and/or therapeutic areas
- Effectively communicating key competitive information and potential implications to cross-functional teams and leadership throughout the organization
- Providing scientific conference coverage and analysis of clinical data, commercial presence, key themes from a disease area perspective
- Supporting stakeholders in development of function-specific deliverables (eg, forecasts, market assessments, brand plans)
- Partnering with third party agencies to support CI projects
- Following pre-defined standards to ensure legal and ethical approaches to CI, protecting business interests and confidentiality
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent task and time management skills (ie, project planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management)
- Strong relationship management skills, including both internal and external contacts (eg, vendor management)
- Customer-centric mindset, including ability to adapt communication style, content, timing and tone to audience/stakeholder needs
- Flexibility and capacity to learn new disease areas when required, and to support multiple competing stakeholder priorities and requests
- Proven ability to research, develop, and deliver CI assessments and strategic insights (ie, interpret and synthesize key data or news events and identify broader implications)
- Ability to effectively simplify and present complex information to peers and leadership to achieve pre-defined objectives
- Experience using online data sources and scientific/market databases (e.g., Pubmed, clinicaltrials.gov, TrialTrove, Evaluate Pharma, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and proactively, using sound judgement in face of uncertainty
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years' relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6 years with relevant experience
- Experience in competitive intelligence in commercial markets
- Must be willing to travel for scientific conferences/congresses and internal workshops
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in pharmaceutical industry, specifically CI, consulting, marketing, or analytics
- Experience assessing commercial markets
- Masters, PharmD, PhD or equivalent graduate degree, life science background
