Sr Director, Employee Experience

Corporate Engineering & Facilities (CEF)

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Engineering & Facilities, this role provides strategic and operational leadership and expertise to drive a rewarding experience for employees, contractors & visitor while on our Gilead sites. This position will be in Gilead's Corporate Headquarters in Foster City, California, USA. This position will be directly responsible for provision of select services at our Foster City Site and leadership via influence for enhancement of site experience across Gilead's global portfolio.

Core responsibilities
  • Drive delivery of exceptional employee experience benefiting employees, vendor partners, guests & visitors to Gilead Sites
  • Actively engage with executive leaders and Gilead thought leaders on the evolving culture and experience aspirations and translate input into employee experience strategy
  • Proactively engage with our employees, vendor partners and visitors to gain insights towards exceptional employee experience
  • In full partnership with peers & peer organizations, collaboratively develop and/or support the development & alignment on corporate level employee experience guidance elements, standards, etc for alignment across sites globally
  • Provide strategic development, precision refinement and quality delivery of select employee experience programs/services at our Foster City Site (scope flexible and aligned with successful candidate experience)
    • Routinely conduct site inspections to capture the perspective of our employees, vendor partners & guests (‘walk in their shoes”).
    • Set and prioritize goals/objectives for function and manage performance, inclusive of implementing thoughtful training/development plans for all direct reports.
  • Represent the feedback from broader employee population on capital projects focused on lifecycle management of buildings and facilities
  • Provide enabling input and partnership to the business on all matters relating to employee experience.
  • Inform workplace/project designs and plans to advance the creation inspirational workspaces that represents and amplify the voice of our employee base


Business/Guest Partnering
  • Engage with Executive/Senior Leaders across the business to gather input and to present experience enhancement opportunities
  • Proactively engage with our employees, vendor partners and visitors to gain insights towards exceptional employee experience
  • Partner closely with workspace strategy and change management teams to address routine feedback on site services and impact of existing portfolio of amenities
  • Partner closely with Public Affairs on branding employee experience efforts internally and externally for impact
  • Engage with Security, IT, Procurement, Finance, EH&S and Legal to ensure cohesive delivery of valued services resulting in exceptional employee experience
  • Create effective communication for occupants highlighting the portfolio of available workplace programs/services, including navigation to service points and/or service data


Compliance
  • Lead execution of services/programs in full compliance of applicable regulatory & Gilead regulations/requirements
  • Display leadership in raising any potential indication of ‘non-compliance' as appropriate at first awareness


Finance
  • Effectively and accurately manage services/budgets for services under management, including holding key relationships with business and Finance functions to ensure accurate forecasting and reporting of costs
  • Effectively support and advocate for cross-functional partners engaged in delivery of quality programs/services across all Gilead sites in relation to employee experience
  • Partner with Finance regularly to monitor financial trends and understand evolving financial climate across Gilead


Preferred Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • Extensive experience in leading employee experience/hospitality functions or programs within professional environment
  • Extensive experience and depth of understanding of Facilities Management and Operations concepts, practices & principles
  • Excellent ability to lead via partnership and influence - cross-functionally and across all segments of the business
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Effective communicator; experienced and proficient at presenting to various levels of the organization
  • Proven track record & skills associated with managing change
  • Skilled in resolving complex problems in a variety of situations. Resolve issues/challenges by gaining clarify on root cause(s) and use of effective judgement leading to productive resolution
  • Proficient at collecting, analyzing and understanding data. Use of techniques and methods to present data in a format that promotes effective and evidence-based decision-making
  • Relevant experience of managing third parties/suppliers/contracts


Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 14 years of experience leading provision of services within hospitality and/or facilities services with a BA/BS degree OR minimum 12 years of experience with MA/MS degree
  • Demonstrated experience with program/services in a cross-functional environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (proficient in English Language)
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in managing within a corporate environment
  • Fluency in second language is a plus
