Just-Evotec Biologics is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Strategic Buyer that desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. The role will be responsible for procuring the goods and services necessary for biologics discovery research, process development and manufacturing. This team member will have the means and opportunity to contribute to the success of the company and its clients by making high-quality and cost-effective purchasing decisions. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills and will have a keen eye for detail, a win-win mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and support sourcing activity across all Goods & Services categories.
  • Lead project management efforts for strategic sourcing events.
  • Manage and execute all steps of the strategic sourcing process including developing RFPs, negotiating with suppliers, conducting bid analysis, making supplier recommendations, and preparing presentations.
  • Support supplier selection, meeting criteria such as assurance of supply, service, cost, quality, regulatory compliance, and responsible sourcing.
  • Support and execute strategic initiatives within assigned categories to drive maximum cost savings, supply assurance and value creation for the organization
  • Support the development of specific category strategies for the assigned spend categories, including market research/benchmarks, milestones, savings targets, resource requirements, and implementation plans
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop and communicate business and technical requirements
  • Support routine supplier business reviews, evaluating supplier performance and compliance.
  • Negotiate payment term extensions in support of company’s cash flow initiative
  • Identify requesting functions’ requirements and develop and refine specifications for goods and services.
  • Interpret and communicate Procurement procedures to stakeholders and lead sourcing efforts.
  • Resolve Procurement problems between internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Learn and become an expert on our Digital Procurement Technology platform (e-Sourcing, MRP, Analytics, P2P)
  • Work in accordance with the Evotec Global Operating Model, Group Policies and Standards, the Plant procurement activities from category strategy development to contract, implementation and supplier management. May include supporting other Plants and/or SBU as directed by SBU Procurement Lead.
  • Supports implementation and compliance to policies, procedures and controls to ensure effective procurement activities and vendor execution.
  • Partners with the Operations organization to understand upcoming needs and proactively communicates challenges impacting inventory availability
  • Drives continuous improvement with suppliers utilizing systems and tools to monitor and report supplier performance and corrective action
  • Other duties as assigned by (Sr.) Director of Procurement

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Administration, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain experience in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Aerospace or Automotive industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Entrepreneurial Spirit and excellent communication skills
  • Strong systems background, including ERP and current e-procurement solutions
  • Worked in a regulated environment with a Quality Management System
  • Lean Six Sigma experience or willingness to obtain
  • Familiar with Import and Export Compliance and Procedures
  • Experience working directly with CMO or CROs
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $75,000 to $110,000; Base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision and 401k company match, flexible paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and transportation benefits.
