Our Genetic Medicine team is an innovation-focused group working to identify, develop and apply cutting-edge technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. Our agile and diverse team strives to operate as an autonomous ‘biotech-like’ company within the walls of Lilly.
We are looking for a creative and collaborative scientist with expertise in in vitro and in vivo characterization techniques that can be applied to study emerging nucleic acid delivery approaches. The successful candidate will have a strong research background in molecular biology assays, histology-based evaluation, flow cytometry, or other relevant evaluation methods. Additionally, they will have a systematic and rigorous approach to science while embracing a team-based approach to scientific work. The scientist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to perform experiments that support the development of nucleic acid delivery strategies for the next generation of neurological therapeutics.

Key responsibilities:Evaluation of nucleic acid delivery constructs in vitro:
- Relevant techniques include flow cytometry, cell culture, qPCR, ELISA, etc.
- Evaluation of nucleic acid delivery constructs in vivo:
- Relevant techniques include immunohistochemistry, tissue extraction and processing, IVIS imaging, etc.
- Optimization of protocols for in vitro / in vivo evaluation of nucleic acid delivery constructs
- Visualization, summation, and presentation of results to team members
- Collaboration with colleagues across Lilly Genetic Medicine team and partner departments
Basic Qualifications:
- BS and/or MS in Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry and Drug Delivery, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Prior experience performing in vivo techniques
- Experience working with nucleic acid delivery technologies
- Proven expertise across a range of evaluation and characterization techniques from cell and tissue samples
- Ability to take initiative and troubleshoot experimental issues
- Excellent oral communication and documentation skills
