We are looking for an Engineering Technician for our Parenteral area at our brand new, state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Durham, NC!

Position Overview:

The Senior Engineering Technician in Parenteral delivers solid technical expertise as the first line of engineering support to production processes, transfer knowledge of equipment capabilities, and works in conjunction with other engineering team members, as well as operations and maintenance departments to ensure process equipment readiness and reliability.  

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first line of engineering support. Investigate and resolve issues with process equipment in Filling, Formulation, Equipment prep area, Inspection and Robotics that create production delays.
  • Provide remote support to shop floor to resolve issues that occur during off shift hours.
  • Work closely with Process Engineer Area owner to assist during Qualification, Engineering studies, cycle development, investigations, and process changes, providing technical reports, redlining drawings & specifications.  
  • Work closely with the Automation specialists to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical issues, and instrumentation issues.
  • Implement tools for operations and engineering to learn and work more proficiently.
  • Coordination of engineering contractors and vendors.
  • Assist maintenance in:
    • Troubleshooting activities.
    • Job plans reviews.  
    • Spare parts inventory requirements reviews.
    • Participating in periodic reviews of equipment state.
  • Assist Instrumentation in:
    • Identifying instrument ranges per COD and MU.
    • Providing support during calibration of critical and non-critical instruments.
    • Providing technical input during calibration job plan reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements using equipment performance data and communicate to area Process Engineer.
  • Create and update of Equipment Specific Instructions (ESI).
  • Participate in safety reviews and audits, as required.
  • Execution of Pre-Start Up Safety (PSSR) reviews.
  • Find and eliminate safety issues with the equipment and processes.
  • Perform activities in accordance with cGMPs and applicable procedures.
  • Understand the production process and critical process parameters.
  • Assure that operational and maintenance procedures and practices reflect safety concerns.

Basic Requirements:

  • Associate degree (or HS Diploma with equivalent work experience).

Additional Preferences:

  • Knowledge of Filling equipment, Isolator, Autoclaves, Parts Washers, Inspection equipment and other Parenteral manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management system.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a participative environment.
  • Experience in GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Strong equipment/process troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; proficient at typing and writing technical documents.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and communication skills with a customer service attitude.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.

Other Information:

  • Ability to wear safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, protective gloves etc.)
  • This position will require being on-call as needed
