The Lilly Bioprocess Research and Development (BR&D) team has an exciting opportunity for an innovative Scientist to join our process development organization. You will be part of a diverse team of, biochemists, molecular biologists, chemical engineers, and analytical chemists to develop cell lines, technology and processes for production of recombinant therapeutic proteins.

Top candidates for this position will be able to:

  • Optimize Cell Line Development processes leading to the generation of API.

  • Design, execute and interpret AAV production experiments to optimize the production process.

  • Use mathematical methods and computer tools to model and explore experimental systems.

  • Show proficiency in cell culture, molecular biology, protein expression, flow cytometry, next generation sequencing and various analytical techniques.

  • Participate in and/or lead cross-functional process development teams, and effectively collaborate with other groups in Bioprocess and Bioproduct Development, Discovery, MS & T and Manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical problem-solving capability, be highly motivated and internally driven, have experience of leading and motivating a group of scientists to deliver strong performance

    Responsibilities:

    • Work collaboratively cross-functionally within Development and cross-organizationally with Discovery and Manufacturing organizations.

    • Work effectively with external parties on development projects, research collaborations and outsourcing efforts.

    • Leading /supporting organization initiatives, bringing new capabilities / technologies and providing internal / external influence

    • Strong written and verbal communication to speak to both technical and business-related implication

    Basic Qualifications:

    • PhD in in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

    • 5+ years of industry experience in cell line development for therapeutic protein manufacture and/or AAV production.

    Additional Skills/Preferences:

    • Expertise in cell culture, molecular biology with an emphasis on cell culture process development and optimization.

    • Proficient in English

    • Familiarity with FACS/Flow Cytometers, qPCR, next generation sequencing.

    • Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.

    • Ability to balance multiple activities, prioritize and handle ambiguity.

    • Effective oral and written communication skills.

    • Must be able to work efficiently in an interdisciplinary team environment.
