We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual who can help build a highly collaborative, successful drug discovery and development team in the Obesity research group in Cambridge. The successful candidate will use their strong in vivo pharmacology background and complementary laboratory skills to play a critical role in supporting discovery efforts and established pipeline projects with an emphasis on anti-obesity therapeutics. You will be responsible for setting up critical capabilities in the laboratory setting and working with other scientists within and across departments to achieve project and department goals.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Plan and independently complete in vivo experiments to support preclinical characterization and evaluation of targets/pathways that regulate energy balance
  • Perform routine rodent handling, dosing and small animal surgeries, including but not limited to parenteral routes of administration, stereotaxic surgeries and tissue collection
  • Perform molecular and biochemical assessments on ex vivo samples in collaboration with colleagues in other departments
  • Function independently, work within a team-oriented lab environment and work within cross-functional project teams
  • Accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats
Minimum qualifications:
  • B.S. and/or M.S. in biology or a closely related field with 2+year of laboratory experience
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • A background in the biology and physiology of energy balance regulation and metabolic disease is a plus
  • Experience in the development and validation of in vitro cellular assays, (including but not limited to cell lines, iPSCs and/or stem cells), compound screening and functional assays
  • Experience with various assay detection technologies (fluorescence, luminescence, FRET, alpha-screen, radiometric assays) and ability to implement and validate new assay technologies or technologies
  • Support the implementation of new assay technologies
  • Experience with imaging techniques and/or flow cytometry
  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams and projects
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting data in a team environment
