The Role:

The Technology Development group at Life Edit discovers new genome editing systems and establishes new editing capabilities and optimizes them to support efforts developing curative gene editing therapies and gene edited cell therapies. We are seeking enthusiastic, competent, and self-motivated individuals to work in our company.  We are looking for a Scientist to develop and support automated mammalian cell screening assays.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Work with scientists to develop automated protocols for cell screening assays.
  • Support both standalone liquid handlers and fully integrated automated workcells.
  • For the first 6 months to 1 year this position will be expected to perform cell screening assays using automation.
  • Train other users on best practices for using various automated platforms.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for the automated platforms.
  • Be part of a growing automation team and make recommendations for our automation roadmap.
  • Push the boundaries for what automation can do for gene editing workflows.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field with 5+ years of experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with developing, writing, and maintaining protocols on automated liquid handlers (Tecan, Hamilton, Agilent, Beckman, etc.).
  • Experience with integrated automated workcells and scheduling software preferred (VWorks, Cellario, Green Button Go, etc.).
  • Programming knowledge in Python, C#, JavaScript, etc.
  • Experience with culturing and transfecting cells and performing subsequent cell screening assays.
  • Experience with modern molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, NGS and flow cytometry.
  • Experience maintaining and organizing ELN documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate in a team-oriented environment
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
