SR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - MOLECULAR BIOLOGY/VRA - VACCINES

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The SR Research Associate/Molecular Biology within the Vaccine Research and Analytics (VRA) Team of Takeda Vaccines will support the characterization of Critical Reagents for the development of our candidate vaccines. This is a bench-focused position:

  • Independently design, execute, and analyze scientific experiments
  • Perform procedures given general instructions
  • Identify problems with experiments and implement solutions
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments
  • Document experimental data in ELN and LIMS on time.
  • Communicate results and research progress with the team and during departmental meetings
  • Prepare, write, analyze, and present technical data and reports
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to drive innovation
  • Participate in monitoring and maintaining facility related aspects of the lab and lab equipment as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • BSc in Biology, Molecular Biology or cognate discipline with 6 years industry experience or,
  • MSc in Biology, Molecular Biology or cognate discipline with 4 years industry experience
  • Thorough understanding of molecular biology (construct design and cloning) and protein analysis (SDS page, Western blotting, SPR, ELISA),
  • Experience developing and running molecular biology assays (ddPCR, qPCR, NGS, etc)
  • Experience with modern molecular cloning techniques (such as Gibson assembly or Golden Gate)
  • Experience with flow cytometry, luminescence, or fluorescence-based assays would be a plus
  • Mammalian cell culture experience required preferred
  • Experience to designing, organizing and executing multiple complex experiments simultaneously
  • Familiarity with lab instrumentation use and maintenance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, etc).
  • Typical laboratory bending, stooping, lifting requirements apply.
  • Lifting and moving supplies and equipment (up to 25 pounds).
  • May require specialized respiratory equipment and/or PPE for infectious disease research

TRAVEL:

  • Willingness to travel to various training, meetings, or client sites, including overnight trips (expected to be infrequent).
  • Requires approximately 5% travel.
