The Role

Moderna is seeking a Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence to be part of the global commercial organization and execute the Competitive Intelligence (CI) vision and strategy, in alignment with stakeholder priorities.

This role works closely with disease area matrix teams (including leaders and teams in Commercial, R&D, Medical, & Market Access) to provide strategic support through the identification, analysis, and distribution of timely & relevant business and competitive intelligence, with an emphasis on actionable insights that inform the near- and long-term franchise strategies for the respiratory and latent vaccine program teams.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Develop a robust CI plan to assess the competitive environment, competitors assets, emerging scientific data, and commercial activities, to inform clinical, regulatory and commercial competitor strategies

  • Deliver competitor insights that inform market entry scenario planning, brand growth initiatives and the development of brand lifecycle strategies

  • Gather information and translate it into actionable insights and recommendations that aide key stakeholders in decision making regarding internal assets

  • Develop and deliver reports/communications that provide competitive insights and analysis of trends, issues, with a focus on delivering value

  • Act as the single point of contact for key global and regional stakeholders, in a customer-driven CI support model

  • Closely collaborate with above brand functions to integrate critical information into validated assumptions

  • Implement all elements of internal CI model based on consultative engagement with key stakeholders, leading internal intelligence networks, coordinating the communication of intelligence, managing external CI vendors/partners, and leveraging relevant internal IT tools and platforms

  • Innovate within CI to help propel the group to World Class status (e.g., visualizations, interactive datasets, predictive analytics)

  • Respond to ad hoc key business questions with expert analysis

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree required

  • 8 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience

  • 5 years of experience conducting CI in infectious diseases

  • Experience with basic business software tools and environments (e.g., MS Office) and pharma CI data sources (e.g., Informa, commercially available clinical trial databases)

  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of time

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Masters Degree/PhD a plus

  • Direct commercial experience in respiratory vaccines, including flu commercial models across key markets, a significant plus

  • Highly intellectual with excellent analytical skills, learning agility, and ability to think strategically

  • A clear communicator with the ability to communicate complex issues simply

  • Resourceful, motivated, decisive and proactive; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-growing organization

  • Experience in successfully supporting business decision making in a complex and highly dynamic corporate environment

  • Deep expertise in conducting competitive analyses and generating actionable recommendations

  • Understanding of vaccine/ pharmaceutical development and commercialization process, as well as industry competitive dynamics

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross-functionally in a matrix environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures

  • Strong oral/written communications and presentation skills

  • Ability to quickly learn category and therapy area knowledge
