The Director of Aircraft Maintenance role is an exciting and impactful role overseeing all aspects of our corporate Aircraft Maintenance department. This role will be based out of the San Jose Airport and report to the Executive Director Aviation.


Responsibilities:
  • Leads the Aircraft Maintenance department.
  • Ensures safe travel for all passengers and crew, from an aviation maintenance perspective aboard Gilead aircraft.
  • Supervises and performs aircraft maintenance on company aircraft in compliance with FAA regulations and aircraft manufacturer's service programs and the hiring and training of maintenance personnel.
  • Implements, maintains, and participates in the Safety Management System.

Duties:
  • Plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises all maintenance activity on fleet aircraft.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains internal maintenance policies and procedures and ensures compliance with regulatory and manufacturers' maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Prepares the annual aircraft maintenance budget and is responsible for all maintenance budget expenditures. Reviews and approves all maintenance invoices for payment.
  • Ensures maintenance department is adequately staffed by making staffing recommendations to the Executive Director of Aviation.
  • Hires and trains maintenance personnel, as required.
  • Completes performance appraisals for all maintenance personnel.
  • Prepares specifications for bids on outside repairs, maintenance, and inspections. Reviews bids and makes recommendations to the Executive Director of Aviation.
  • Oversees and directs all outsourced aircraft maintenance, refurbishment, cleaning, and polishing.
  • Ensures OSHA and EHS compliance.
  • Works with the FAA on all matters as it pertains to our operation and is responsible for compliance with all applicable FAA / ICAO Regulations / ADs pertaining to the maintenance and manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required by the Executive Director of Aviation.


Qualifications:
  • A College degree is preferred
  • An FAA Airframe and Powerplant license is required
  • At least ten years' aviation experience is required
  • A minimum of five years supervisory experience is required.
  • Commitment to pursuing continuing education in aviation maintenance through accredited schools or manufacturer's training programs is required
  • It is strongly preferred that the successful candidate is an NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM).
