Job Description

Manager Finance - FP&A Clinical, Inflammation
Gilead Sciences is looking for a Finance Manager - FP&A Clinical to join our FP&A team in Foster City, CA. In this important role, you will partner with Clinical Operations to support Inflammation clinical spend. To achieve this, you will work closely with the Inflammation TA Clinical Ops team, driving the forecast and budget process, performing month-end close, helping with decision support and analysis, and producing management reporting.

What you will do:

• Establish strong business partnerships with the Inflammation Clinical operations team to provide comprehensive financial support and ongoing analytics for clinical study spend.
  
• Lead the month-end and LE process for Inflammation, ensuring accuracy and streamlined processes.
  
• Drive development of meaningful financial analyses and create effective presentations to communicate conclusions and recommendations to senior leadership.
  
• Drive development and implementation of key process improvement initiatives. Proactively engage with Finance colleagues and business partners to develop continuous process improvements to planning, analyses and reporting.
  
• Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies and procedures, including Financial Disclosures for NDA and NDA filing.
  
• Ad hoc analyses as needed

• Willingness to be hands-on: The individual must have a willingness to become involved in operations to understand the processes so that the person can be viewed as the financial partner by the business.
  
• Provide Forward Thinking: The individual must be able to identify the interdependencies across different parts of the organization and proactively address the potential impact of issues with relevant parties.
  
• Business Savvy and Financial Acumen: The candidate will possess exceptional financial, analytical and problem-solving skills. These skills must be balanced by sound business judgment.
  
• Project Management: The candidate must possess the ability to actively manage the execution of projects that involve cross-functional stakeholders. This includes providing guidance on project scope and timelines, integrating the work of multiple teams into project deliverables, and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

• A BS or BA is required.
  
• 6+ years of relevant experience in Finance, having held positions of increasing scope and responsibility. 4+ years with an MBA/MS or MA.
  
• Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with familiarity in Oracle, Hyperion, and Tableau preferred.
  
• Experience with project reporting, operational accounting and reporting is required.
  
• A CPA or master's degree, and prior experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry supporting R&D are strongly preferred.
  
• Solution oriented, with good analytical capabilities.
  
• Demonstrated success working in a deadline driven and multi-task environment.
  
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as an effective member of our team.
