The Role:
Moderna continues to advance its novel mRNA platform to expand the R&D pipeline and portfolio and open new therapeutic applications. Innovation of the platform and pursuit of therapies will enable Moderna to achieve its mission to deliver the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines. Research and Early Development is core to Modernas mission, responsible for mRNA platform research, therapeutics discovery and preclinical development, and non-clinical sciences.
The RED Chief of Staff will support the SVP, Research and Early Development (RED) to deliver on functional goals, objectives, and strategic programs. This role will act as a critical integration point within RED and between RED and partner organizations. The chief of staff will operate closely with the SVP, RED and act as a thought partner and trusted executor for a variety of critical tasks and initiatives, anticipating challenges, navigating organizations, and implementing solutions with limited oversight.
Heres What Youll Do:
Coordinate and integrate organizational and functional goals and objectives across R&ED, and collaborate with functional leads to monitor progress and pivots
Partner with functional leaders to frame and execute on initiatives to build or improve capabilities, operating models, and business processes to achieve functional, R&D and enterprise-level objectives
Lead communication and change management activities, acting as the integration hub of information and ensuring coordinated distribution and cultural consistency
Build and drive agendas for RED and Therapeutics Research Leadership Team meetings; synthesize and communicate next steps and follow-up on completion
Prepare and drive integration of materials for board, executive, broad cross-functional meetings and external interactions, ensuring synthesis, clarity, and specificity of messaging
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
12+ years of experience working for a pharmaceutical/biotech company in strategic operations, business operations, or similar experience in a professional services (e.g., management or strategy consulting)
PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred, with an understanding of drug development and value creation in the biopharmaceutical industry, and commitment to learn about the science behind our platform technology
Ability to perform and synthesize in-depth, custom analyses, to integrate analysis and broader context into a recommendation, and to defend recommendation in a respectful, objective manner
Advanced verbal and written communication skills to deliver a compelling narrative/message to senior stakeholders in the organization
