The Senior Project Manager of Project Management Operations within Science & Development (S&D) will be responsible for providing leadership to advance the S&D portfolio of projects through two main avenues:
1)    PM leadership for portfolio execution of laboratory and technical operations, including strategic and tactical coordination of resources (people, equipment, facilities), reporting, and analysis
2)    Ownership, including continuous improvement, training, and management of PM tools and processes

This position requires collaboration with functional staff and product development project managers, senior management, and subcontractors to ensure strategic execution of the portfolio of activities within laboratory and technical operations and associated resource needs, ensuring they are understood, mapped, and strategically sequenced for successful completion of all project deliverables within the S&D portfolio.

This individual must have a strategic and process focused mindset, firsthand experience in biopharma project management and/or laboratory operations, and experience in leading project teams that might be cross-site and/or cross functional.

Primary responsibilities include:
•    Building and leading processes and ways of working that provide a portfolio view of laboratory and technical operations resource needs across all programs and working within PM and cross-functionally to drive strategic decision making and sequencing of efforts
•    Supporting the creation, analysis, and decision making of portfolio resource data to drive execution of all programs at the right time, place, and with the appropriate resources
•    Identifying, securing, managing, and overseeing subcontractor efforts in advancement of laboratory and technical operations outsourced activities
•    Leading Capital Expenditure processes, ensuring efficient, transparent, and timely review and processing of requests and associated budgeting and annual planning for the S&D business
•    Participating in new project planning as well as integration of new acquisitions
•    Partnering with various S&D functions and internal Emergent functions, including IP/contract/quality to promote an elevated level of quality and consistency across and within programs
•    Supporting the implementation, use and adherence, and continuous improvement of PM tools, processes, and governance
•    Leadership of S&D strategic imperatives and continuous improvement

•    College degree in the biological sciences; advanced degree is ideal
•    Minimum of 6 years of project management and/or business leadership experience is required, where a portion of the experience includes PM team leadership, including at least 4 years of technical experience in laboratory operations, biologics, vaccine, device or drug development 
•    Experience managing programs funded under government or NGO grants and/or contracts is ideal
•    Earned Value Management experience is ideal
•    PMP certification is ideal 
•    Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, & Word)
•    Extensive experience with scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) 
•    Knowledge of phase-appropriate approaches to development, manufacturing, testing, quality, and reporting requirements is desired.

•    Able to receive, provide feedback and ask meaningful questions

•    Able to adapt in real time to the shifting demands of different situations and stakeholders
•    Innovative and works to optimize work processes
