Desired Candidate profile: 

We are looking for a Lab/Histology Technician to help support the day-to-day operations of the Laboratory. This is a part time role that supports high workload peaks. Work schedule is flexible. 

Key Responsibilities:

• The primary function will be tissue grossing, processing, and orientation in embedding compounds
• Identifying region of interest for sectioning and cutting high quality sections (floating and slide mounted; section thickness range 5-40um) from FFPE and frozen tissue from rodent, NHP and human samples.
• Processing of histochemical and immunohistochemical stains are a part of the routine workflow.
• Daily cutting for routine histology and immunostaining.
• Actively participate in a comprehensive Quality Control Program
• Must maintain a clean working environment

Education and/or Experience:

• Requires a minimum high school diploma or Associates degree.

Experience desired, but not required:

• 2 years experience in Histology 
• Experience in handling several different tissue types (brain, spinal cord, eye, muscle, kidney) 
• Experience and understanding the various programs available on the strainers and their uses
• Working knowledge of related equipment (Cryostat or Microtome) and its maintenance
• ASCP HT/HTL certification
