The Molecular Profiling and Data Science Department is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Computational Scientist who values independent research in an open and collaborative working environment. You will participate in original studies that span from basic research to translation studies, directly impacting the lives of patients. You will also have the opportunity to develop novel computational methods from internal and external big data resources. You will join a diverse and inspiring team which cultivates discussion across scientists of differing backgrounds at the exciting intersection of function genomics, gene therapy, machine learning, and neuroscience. We work closely with biological researchers from different scientific functions, especially the departments of Neuroscience, Aging, VelociGene and Precision Medicine, to address critical scientific questions.
As a Sr. Scientist, Bioinformatics, a typical day might include the following:
Discover therapeutic targets via innovative mining of single cell genomics, epigenomics, spatial transcriptomics and other omics data.
Develop and apply computational methodologies to analyze and integrate morphological, physiological and/or behavioral data with omics data to gain new biology insights.
Contribute to the application of gene interference strategies such as CRISPR-Cas9 and AAV for target discovery and therapy development.
Work in concert with pre-clinical and clinical teams to design next-generation sequencing and digital phenotyping experiments, draft data analysis plans, and provide critical analytics support.
Prepare presentations and documentations for collaborators and senior management.
Publish and present novel findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
This job might be for you if:
You are passionate about understanding and applying efficient computational techniques to address biological questions.
Bring innovative thinking to multi-modality data analysis.

To be considered for this role, you must have a PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Computational Biology, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field. Experience with conducting bioinformatics analysis (e.g. bulk and single cell RNA-Seq, spatial transcriptomics, genomic variation). Experience analyzing image, physiological and/or time-series data is a big plus. Experience in machine learning especially computer vision is highly preferred. Strong background (2+ years preferred) in at least in one of the following scripting languages: R, Python, MATLAB. Experienced in working in a Linux environment, shell scripting and Jupyter Notebook environment. Experience with public transcriptomics database such as Human Cell Atlas, Allen Brain Atlas, and GTEx is preferable.
