Scientist I/II, In Vivo Pharmacology, Alzheimer’s disease

 

 AbbVie is seeking an innovative, motivated Scientist with prior experience working in neurodegeneration disease models to join the In Vivo Pharmacology team at their Cambridge Research Center (CRC). This individual will be responsible for designing, conducting and interpreting studies in animal models to support discovery and preclinical Alzheimer’s disease projects. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Leading, designing and conducting hands-on experiments in mouse models to support Parkinson’s disease projects
  • Manage/organize ex vivo analysis of samples, including PK, biochemistry and histology
  • Analyzing, interpreting and presenting data in a timely manner to support drug discovery efforts

Qualifications

  • BS in Neuroscience, Biology or related field with 2+ years of academic or industry research experience; MS with 1+ year of experience
  • Expert in vivo skills including rodent handling, dosing (iv, ip, po, etc) and harvesting tissues/fluids
  • The ideal candidate will have experience doing stereotaxic surgery, but individuals with other surgical experience will be considered
  • Expertise in animal models of neurodegenerative disease-related models preferred
  • Experience with ex vivo assay techniques such as ELISAs, WB, qPCR and/or histology/immunohistochemistry preferred
  • Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
