Job Details

The Cancer Immunology group in the department of Immunology & Inflammation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ph.D. scientist with solid background in functional genomics as well as tumor immunology, to translate discoveries from multi-omics profiling of preclinical cancer models and patient samples into novel therapeutics. We are looking for someone who is passionate about scientific discoveries that will benefit cancer patients as well as individual growth and development.

Please see our recent relevant work: https://www.nature.com/articles/s43018-022-00391-0

As a scientist in the Cancer Immunology team, a typical day may include the following:

  • Functional validation of findings from multi-omics profiling by using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing (knockout, activation, repression) in primary immune cells and cancer cells

  • Deploy functional genomics (CRISPR screens, Perturb-seq) to enable novel targets identification and deep molecular characterization using primary immune cells

  • Edit immune cells by CRISPR technologies ex vivo and examine functional readouts in vivo and in vitro

  • Utilize CRISPR tools to interrogate the identity and function of noncoding regulatory elements in the genome

  • Develop and optimize a variety of immunoassays to evaluate the impact of genomic perturbations on immune cell function

  • Work collaboratively with computational scientists to functionally integrate complex multi-omics data sets derived from preclinical models and patients

  • Proactively identify, evaluate and implement novel technologies (bulk and single-cell) in functional genomics

  • Deliver impactful presentations to colleagues, including senior leadership

This role might be for you if:

  • You are excited about manipulating therapeutically immune cell states to promote effector function and/or reverse dysfunction

  • You have the ability to innovate and lead new scientific directions

  • You are a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • You can independently design and execute experiments, analyze data and interpret results

  • You have the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously

This role requires a Ph.D. in a related field (immunology/immuno-oncology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, etc.) with a strong record of innovation and publication. We need someone with strong expertise with CRISPR-Cas9 and CRISPR-dCas9 tools. You must have experience with performing and analyzing genome-wide CRISPR workflows. Experience with high-throughput perturbation technologies using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing (Perturb-seq, etc.) is desired. We would like someone who has experience with multiparametric flow cytometry. Experience with functional interrogation of the noncoding/regulatory genome, as well as with integration of molecular profiling data including epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and genomic datasets is a plus. Experience with mouse tumor models (syngeneic and/or xenogeneic) is a plus.
