Position Summary & Role

We are seeking a Vice President, General Manager & Site Head for our Biologics, Vaccines & Gene Therapy biomanufacturing organization in Alachua, Florida This leader is dedicated to quality excellence, innovation, and the advance of complex medicine manufacturing to support patients worldwide. This individual is an architect at heart who enjoys designing and developing systems and processes from the ground up. Located in the Gainesville metropolitan area, this site spans three facilities across 230,000 square foot biomanufacturing facility. This site primarily serves US federal contracts with capabilities that include viral vaccines development and manufacturing, to aseptic fill-finish lines and process characterization. We started an incredible journey and are looking for passionate leaders to join us for this important mission.

The VP, GM & Site Head will have single point accountability and will lead a cross-functional Site Leadership Team (SLT) and employee count of 300+ . This leader will also manage programs for the Governments and NGOs Franchise. This position is accountable for the overall manufacturing and -time delivery of clinical and commercial drug substance and drug product in compliance with cGMP’s, global health authority standards, internal and client quality requirements. In addition to manufacturing, the site will host significant Process and Analytical Development capabilities. This leader is accountable for executing the site strategic plans, day-to -day oversight and driving overall operational, quality, compliance, staff engagement, EH&S, and financial performance at the site.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Manufacturing Officer, the VP, GM & Site Head will:

  • Manage the Site Leadership Team (SLT) which will include the following functions which will be direct reports of the Site GM: Process Development, Analytical Development and Facilities and Supply Chain. The SLT will also be comprised of l Global and Technical Operations Business Partners (Franchises, Quality, MSAT, Engineering, HR, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Government Affairs) for matters concerning the site

  • Work closely with the Site Leadership Team to ensure that strong network relationships are built and maintained with Technical Operations functional and Global leadership, specifically in the areas of Quality, Global MSAT, Global Engineering, EH&S, HR, Finance, Supply Chain, OE, Franchise Leads, and PMO/Project Management.

  • Partner closely with other site heads to build a learning and continuous improvement culture across the board and share/adopt best practices across the network.

  • Provide input in developing Strategic Operating Plan and lead the execution of the plan

  • Build a best-in-class quality, safety, and continues improvement culture at the site

  • Ensure the site meets/exceeds budgeted financial goals and objectives

  • Champion efforts to improve overall productivity and decrease cost while maintaining high levels of quality, compliance, and employee engagement

  • Ensure unparalleled customer service and satisfaction always working to resolve any issues in a quality and timely manner

  • Lead the site strategic planning and annual goal setting process, talent and succession planning, OPEX and CAPEX process in collaboration with Finance and HR business partners.

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure strong community relations

  • Ensure nimble decision-making processes

  • Lead organizational changes to continuously deliver improved business results in the areas of quality, -time and in-full delivery of product, reliability, and overall competitiveness

  • Ensure strategies and processes are in place for risk management, business continuity, and crisis management specifically related to product supply, quality and compliance, life safety and environmental compliance; and

  • Lead Corporate and Network initiatives as requested.

Preferred Experience, Education & Qualifications
Successful candidates will have:

  • Strong knowledge of cGMP’s, regulatory and quality requirements for biologics, vaccines and viral vectors

  • Extensive management experience to lead teams in a biopharmaceutical operations environment

  • P&L responsibility experience in driving business growth and profitability within Govt / NGO business for services and / or products

  • Client management experience with US government agencies, international governments and NGOs

  • Demonstrated skills and experience building, scaling and leading large teams

  • Proven experience in strategic management, planning and execution

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated skills in team building, mentoring, coaching and people development

  • Strong business, quality and financial acumen

  • Ability to manage multiple functions and build strong relationship across a diverse landscape; and

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/life sciences/business or related field.

Our target annualized base pay hiring range for this position is $255,000.00 - $326,250.00. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
