Job Description



We are seeking a motivated data scientist with experience in biologics to take a lead role in building out data science capabilities to enable Protein Therapeutics objectives. The position provides a unique opportunity to work closely with highly diverse and collaborative groups of computational and wet-lab scientists, apply state-of-the-art data science methodologies and implement scalable analytical solutions to the design, discovery, engineering, and characterization of antibody-based therapeutics.

The successful candidate will work closely with Protein Therapeutics scientists to design experiments, build datasets, adopt machine learning and statistical modeling methods, and implement computational tools to enable the discovery and engineering of biologics. The individual will collaborate cross-functionally and contribute to establishing systems and practices for efficient and scalable high throughput data capture, integration, and the generation of predictive models. The individual will play a key role in therapeutics project teams, analyzing diverse multidimensional data to inform teams to make data-driven decisions. The individual can also initiate/lead collaborations and research efforts for novel method development and drug discovery.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop computational analysis pipelines to analyze antibody sequences from in vivo and in vitro selections
  • Develop statistical designs and machine learning models for biologics to advance protein therapeutics programs
  • Develop and apply analytical methods for antibody/protein design and developability engineering, utilizing large-scale NGS and other in-house and external data sources
  • Develop computational methods and implement interactive data visualization solutions to enable experimental multi-variate analysis and data-driven decision-making
  • Work side-by-side with scientists across PT functions to capture, aggregate, and visualize structured data to generate meaningful metrics and testable hypotheses
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with informatics and IT colleagues to evaluate and establish scalable and structured data science capabilities for Protein Therapeutics
  • Provide technical expertise and data science leadership in protein therapeutics project teams
  • Author and contribute to presentations, publications, and patents


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • Expertise in developing algorithms and applications for predictive modeling, pattern recognition, data mining and visualization of large-scale datasets.
  • Experienced in bioinformatics analysis and mining of large-scale antibody sequences
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in protein science and antibody discovery and engineering
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and scientific rigor, ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple objectives in parallel and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to drive strategic solutions.
  • Innovative and collaborative with an entrepreneur mindset to thrive in a diverse and multidisciplinary environment


Required Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with demonstrated expertise in biologics and data science, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience or MS with 10+ years of relevant experience. Industry experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or C/C++ programming languages, shell scripting and command line tools
  • Proficiency in Linux environment, HPC and cloud computing
