About the role :

Global Program Manager for the Strategic Automation Pillars in the areas of:

  • Automation Data Engineering & Governance, Data historization & visualization

  • Automation & Control System Management (risked-based obsolescence) Inc. System Integration & Information Routing, Visuals & Displays (HMI)

  • Automation Cybersecurity & Data Integrity, Industrial networking & OT infrastructure

  • Enabling Data-Driven Use Cases utilizing Shopfloor Data

  • Support the development & operationalization of the global automation strategy

  • Enforce automation harmonization & standardization based on strategic drivers

  • Contribute to Global Major CapEx programs as Automation SME

How you will contribute :

Under the guidance and leadership of the global automation lead, the position holder

AS AN AUTOMATION PROGRAM MANAGER:

  • is responsible for the design and execution model to deploy a strategic automation program according to the strategic roadmaps aligned with the regional/OpU Automation Leads

  • develops a program support structure for local execution by leading a team of internal/external SMEs

  • is responsible to build the global program excellence incl. business/delivery performance metrics

  • perform regular project reviews, provide technical and test expertise for the sites implementation strategies

  • is Functional & System Owner/Representative for Global Automation Platforms

AS AN AUTOMATION SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT:

  • ensures the compliance with automation standards, guidelines, compliance and cybersecurity in the strategic programs and global engineering projects

  • documents and provides standard specifications and guidelines/playbooks to the organization and keeps these documents in life cycle

  • ensures that latest technology standards are technically translated into technical specification/standards

  • review and approve documents to ensure compliance with global standards

  • ensure overall compliance with Takeda’s QMS & change control

  • ensures Automation designs are designed for purpose and are designed considering quality and Cybersecurity Rules applied to the automation area

AS AN OpU AUTOMATION LEAD GUIDANCE/SUPPORT:

  • assists the OpU Automation leads to incorporate the strategic program in their area of responsibility & provides standard templates & packages to be used by the Automation OpU and site leads

  • guides OpU/sites in questions regarding Automation CapEx reviews (feasibility, design) and cost planning according to the Automation guideline and standards

  • run regular review meetings with regional/OpU Automations leads, site contacts and supplier to ensure supplier relationship and support

AS A TECHNICAL LIASON manager

  • Managing the collaboration interfaces with the stakeholders of the other Engineering and non-Engineering functions (e.g., finance, procurement, controlling, Legal, IT, data science, R&D, manufacturing sciences etc.)

  • Support introducing & maintaining the harmonized Takeda Automation target operating model

  • Has a solid understanding of the IT4OT infrastructure (hosting & network) best practices/procedures needed to keep the IT4OT infrastructure of control systems operable and can collaborate with IT service departments accordingly

  • Can define SLA requirements with internal (e.g., IT4OT infrastructure (secure hosting & network services) & external service providers (Automation system integrators and Automation vendors and can keep traction of corresponding KPI fulfillments for the department.

  • Can collaborate with IT to implement Cybersecurity Standards in the automation area, fulfilling the automation requirements

CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE:

  • Drive aspects of modern automation (state-of-the art/emerging automation system technology and shopfloor data integration (connectivity & communication))

  • Operate a modern and risked-based obsolescence management approach for disruptive and incremental change management in automation system replacement

  • Ensure end2end real-time shopfloor data automation & historization concepts

  • Extend the Takeda Digital Backbone onto the shop floor

  • Manage knowledge share in the global automation community and amongst automation stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance in Automation to GxP, data integrity and Cybersecurity

  • Drive performance of global engineering projects by applying the above standards

  • Lead globally and in different cultures

  • Translate automation concepts to technology & not-technology driven departments

Most interdisciplinary function in Engineering, multiple interfaces with the various engineering disciplines, vast landscape of internal stakeholders/collaboration partners, diverse Installed System Landscape per OpU/Site to deal with, Various Automation Vendors & their partners to manage, position requires to lead globally across different cultures & different business drivers


What you bring to Takeda :

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Education:

Bachelor (plus 7 years experience) or Master degree (plus 5 years experience) in Automation Engineering (process, data, equipment, facility automation) or electromechanical/chemical/electronic engineering with main subject of Automation Engineering (process, data, equipment, facility automation)

Competencies & Skills:

  • Proven track record of automation systems and data integration

  • Very good knowledge of proven industrial automation technologies and experience in emerging (Industry 4.0) technologies & how to apply these in pharmaceutical automation concepts

  • Strong automation cybersecurity knowhow & industrial networking experience

  • General knowledge in Digital/Data Science and its enabling concepts

  • Data Integrity Trouble Shooting & GxP knowledge, good pharmaceutical experience

  • General Pharmaceutical process knowledge

  • High Project management skills & Strong Financial acumen

  • Result-driven

  • Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity

  • Business fluent proficiency in English (written and oral)

  • Strong skills to work in matrix organization with excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills required.

  • Sound industry knowledge, project proficiency, and autonomy expected. May be considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in various disciplines.

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of professionals, both internal and external.

  • Ensures and is accountable for all deliverables including schedule milestones, financial performance, and quality of scope according to the assigned projects.

  • Manage contractors and external vendors to deliver robust technical solutions.

  • Manage and forecast capital and expense budgets

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Travel requirements

Travels to Takeda sites within the region or global are expected as well as travels to vendors and service providers (up to 20%).
