Summary

The SEC Reporting Manager is a newly created role and will be responsible for SEC Reporting in addition to responsibilities for technical accounting and internal controls.  This position reports to the Executive Director, Finance and Accounting and is based in San Diego, CA. 

 

Responsibilities

  • SEC Reporting
  • Prepare all reports (Quarterly, Annual) as per SEC requirements (8-K, 10-Q, 10-K, and Annual Report)
  • Prepare supporting schedules and tie-out support for periodic SEC filings including items requested by internal and external auditors
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly earnings release
  • Maintain all necessary deadlines in accordance with the SEC
  • Maintain consistent contact with external auditors to ensure compliance with SEC standards
  • Draft financial reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements
  • Technical Accounting
  • Draft technical accounting memos
  • Keep abreast of latest changes to the accounting standards
  • Internal Controls
  • Primary liaison with external internal audit consultants and auditors; provide day to day coordination and communication with accounting and finance personnel
  • Perform periodic review of certain segregation of duties analyses; advise management of results and propose solutions as appropriate
  • Perform periodic user access reviews for ERP and other relevant financial systems; investigate discrepancies, propose solutions, and advise management as appropriate
  • Assist with IT related Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements i.e., process documentation, internal controls rationalization, controls testing, etc. as requested
  • Other
  • Responsible for reporting equity compensation and day-to-day management of Equity Edge software
  • Responsible for review of journal entries, as assigned
  • Take the lead on ad-hoc, project-based assignments including systems implementation and conversion tasks, as assigned

 

Education and Experience

  • CPA and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting focus
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years SEC reporting; Big 4 public accounting experience required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Biotech or life sciences industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Great Plains software preferred
  • Experience with Equity Edge software preferred
  • Experience with Active Disclosure software is a plus

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $100,000 to $175,000.  Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
