The University of Missouri (MU), College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks applications for a Research Assistant/Sr Research Assistant/Sr Research Associate faculty position in the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory and the Comparative Oncology Radiobiology and Epigenetics Laboratory in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the CVM's overall goals through collaborative research and management of immunology-related projects of large animal species/companion animals in the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory and the Comparative Oncology Radiobiology and Epigenetics Laboratory. He/she may be expected to supervise other laboratory personnel including technicians, fellows, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in immunology or a closely related field
Candidates will be evaluated on:
- Experience in laboratory techniques that may include (but not limited to) flow cytometry, ELISA/ELISPOT, Real-time PCR, western blot, light and fluorescence microscopy, and cell culture.
- Experience in use of computer software for flow cytometric analysis, primer design, real-time PCR quantification analysis, Microsoft Office, and statistical analysis.
- Ability to perform literature searches to identify and implement new laboratory techniques.
- Ability to adapt existing protocols or develop de novo immunologic assays that can be used in the assessment of a variety of spontaneous and induced immune-mediated, inflammatory, neoplastic or immunodeficiency disorders of companion animals.
- Educational and professional achievement
- Research experience, communication skills, organizational skills, ability to develop and troubleshoot immunologic assays, experience working effectively in diverse environments and letters of reference will all be considered.
- Good organizational and communication/instructional skills
- Potential for the candidate to succeed within the framework of the Comparative Internal Medicine Laboratory and the Comparative Oncology Laboratory will also be assessed.
