The Role:

We are looking for multiple summer/fall co-ops to join Statistics and Computational Methods team in department of Research and Early Development at Moderna.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship position for students currently working towards a US-based PhD degree. The program will run fromJuly to December 2023.

Minimum qualifications are:PhD student with at least 3 years of program completion (pursuing PhD, not completed).

The position is limited to individuals who are legally authorized to work in the United States and do not require company sponsorship for work eligibility.

In this role, the successful candidate will report to the team leader of Statistics and Computational Methods and work on a cross-functional, high-impact project. The candidate will work on data fusion problems in research and discovery enabling meta-analysis of in vitro, in vivo bioassays and omics data types. The goal will be supporting robust statistical inference and effective experimental design. Familiarity with statistical inference, omics data analysis and exploratory data analysis would be a big advantage. Must be a self-starter and operate independently.

You will restructure and preprocess data as needed to analyze the data. Explore internal data and layout challenges in addressing select questions. Propose models and describe in detail the caveats and assumptions underlying competing approaches. Document their code and give internal presentation at various levels of technical depth as appropriate. Proactively share learnings and knowledge to support the development of the wider Moderna Research and Early Development community.
