The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group at Gilead Sciences is seeking a candidate for the position of Senior Research Scientist. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for DMPK and PK/ PD M&S in biologics discovery and development projects. This person will work closely with other teams including biologics discovery, toxicology, clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, and regulatory to ensure optimal leads and successful clinical evaluations. The title of the position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:
  • Represent the DMPK group as a subject matter expert in biologics discovery and development projects
  • Develop and execute PK/PD and M&S strategies that align with the molecule format, MOA, and indications
  • Perform quantitative PK/PD analysis to support project deliverables and answer translational questions
  • Collaborate with project teams, line management, and CROs to deliver high-quality reports for regulatory submissions
  • Supervising of research scientists and associate scientists may be required.


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • PhD in pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, pharmacology/toxicology, immunology, bioengineering, or a related life science field with 2+ years of experience, or a MS degree with 8+ years of relevant experience in large molecule/biologics discovery and development
  • Industry experience as a DMPK representative, and demonstrate proficiency in mechanistic and/or QSP PK/PD modeling and simulation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret results, determine next steps, and present data effectively to project teams and senior management
  • Proficiency in using routine PK and basic compartmental modeling software systems such as Phoenix/WinNonlin, ADAPT, MATLAB/Simbiology, or similar.
