Purpose
The purpose of this position is to drive audit readiness strategy, planning and execution. This role provides senior-level consultation and direction to the Operations and Enterprise Systems (OES) organization on compliance with Business Technology Solutions (BTS) policies, procedures, and processes. This position will also support and work directly with OES system owners to ensure their internal controls are designed and operating effectively and control execution evidence is sufficiently retained for audit purposes. In addition, this role will assist in ensuring external and internal audit engagements are kept within scope, potential audit findings are properly vetted, and agreed-upon recommendations are implemented in a timely manner. Overall, this role helps OES accelerate delivery by making compliance easy.
Responsibilities
- Ensure OES system and control owners are compliant with applicable corporate and BTS policies and procedures. Lead OES Compliance staff in the planning and execution of audit readiness assessments to ensure OES systems are audit-ready.
- Ensure control execution evidence is reviewed for quality, is sufficiently retained and can be easily retrieved to support audits.
- Ensure external and internal audit engagements are kept within scope, potential audit findings are properly vetted, and agreed-upon recommendations are implemented in a timely and effective manner.
- Responsible for timely communicating potential audit issues to avoid surprises, driving action for root cause identification, and sharing lessons learned.
- Provide guidance, review, supervision and coaching to OES Compliance staff. Manage resource utilization and anticipate and plan for future needs. Oversee the execution of team’s projects and tasks, ensuring timely execution.
- Accountable for actions and decisions taken by self. Accountable for contributing to team’s performance. Accountable for the accuracy of the fit of proposed solutions for OES compliance needs and the information upon which the business justification and prioritization decisions are made.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and reporting team’s metrics. Use insights from metrics to drive continuous improvement, team’s performance and business value.
- Network, engage, and partner with stakeholders within and outside the OES organization to remain current on new projects, key initiatives, and emerging issues.
- Provide guidance to help stakeholders navigate AbbVie requirements, effectively managing risk and minimizing organizational impact.
- Partner with stakeholders, sharing best practices and championing continuous improvements. Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on risk, control, and compliance matters.
- Perform work using standard methodologies and a risk-based approach; bring in the external perspectives to enable continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify, propose, initiate, and lead improvement initiatives related to BTS processes, policies, and procedures. Significantly contribute to process improvement through strong knowledge and understanding of the organization.
- Interface with key stakeholders (OES system owners, Plant BTS managers, the SOX Project Management Office, Internal Audit, Information Security) and drive efficient and effective audit engagements.
- Responsible for gathering and preparing materials for the periodic SOX certifications and updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with five years of compliance or audit experience; master's degree with 3 years of compliance or audit experience.
- External audit, internal audit or SOX experience required
- Excellent analytical, judgment, influencing, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment and across different levels of management, often with individuals who are not physically co-located
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- Experience with business applications, such as SAP and manufacturing Operations Technology (OT) systems is a plus
