Intern, Media Development

Just is seeking a motivated and creative intern who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. This project will evaluate methods to modulate pH in a small-scale cell culture assay in order to further our understanding of how pH impacts biotherapeutic production in a high-throughput manner. This work will include making perfusion media, culturing CHO cells, and running scall-scale cell culture assays while analyzing culture health. The intern will work closely with the Media Development team to obtain data for multiple clones and cell lines. Our ideal candidate would have experience with aseptic technique and solution preparation. Strong communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, and enthusiasm to learn and apply new scientific concepts are necessary for success in this internship.

Responsibilities:

• Work with a mentor to develop and characterize methods to modulate pH in a small-scale cell culture assay

• Contribute as a team member to ongoing projects and shared responsibilities, including general laboratory upkeep and media support

• End of internship presentation to the scientific staff

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program for Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or related field

• Understanding of basic chemistry and biochemistry principles

• Familiarity with common lab techniques for solution preparation

Pluses:

• Experience with mammalian aseptic technique

• Experience with buffer and solution preparation

• Experience with data analysis and visualization software (e.g. JMP, Python)

While housing is not provided by Just-Evotec Biologics, we make every effort to connect fellow interns to arrange for joint housing and ride sharing.The hiring pay range for this position is $24 to $28 per hourbased on skills, education and experience relevant to the role.
