The individual will also serve as a technical expert for flow cytometry assay development, execution, instrument QC and maintenance, training and governance, service request management, reagent tracking, and data reporting to support programs across multiple therapeutic areas. This position reports to the Senior Manager of the Cellular Immunology Flow team, part of Modernas Translational Immunology group. The Senior Research Associate will work with a team of scientists to develop cell-based flow cytometry assays, perform fit-for-purpose performance assessments, and assay preclinical and clinical samples to return high quality data conducted by Moderna. You will be an integral part in applying high parameter flow and complex assays to generate key data to drive program/project decisions.

Here's What Youll Do:

Under the guidance of the Senior Flow Core Manager and project leads, be responsible for the overall quality and integrity of assigned cytometry projects/use cases

o As a key analyst, conduct assay development on a range of conventional and spectral instruments, including BD Symphony and Cytek Aurora

o Consult with needs from project/program teams to perform cell sorting for downstream applications

o Deliver high quality data within defined timelines and aligned to current industry expectations

o Review and QC data, author cytometry reports

o Identify and resolve quality issues and report issues to upper management

Run experiments independently and accurately analyze and present data

Employ strategies for high parameter data analysis using software such as FCS Express, OMIQ, and Flowjo in addition to researching, developing, and proposing novel solutions

Adhere to established documentation procedures and workflows

Assist in establishing and improving all procedures and required SOP documentation

Identify, test feasibility, and implement emerging laboratory techniques

Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment

Act as a scientific resource externally to project teams and internally to the team and train junior associates where appropriate

May present completed work at appropriate scientific meetings and in publications

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

Bachelors, or Masters Degree in Immunology, Life Sciences, Biology, or related field with experience in flow cytometry.

Minimum of 2 years of prior related laboratory experience

Direct flow cytometry experience from sample processing and staining, through sample acquisition

Spectral flow cytometry understanding and experience

In depth experience on cytometers such as Cytek Aurora, BD Fortessa/Symphony and cell sorting on Sony preferred

Experience with cell culture, ex vivo assays, and cell isolation from tissues

Experience in assessing cell-mediated immunity through flow cytometry: ex vivo stimulation of PBMC and intracellular cytokine staining for functional profiling is highly preferred

Knowledge of system softwares for data analysis: OMIQ, FlowJo

Possess good computational skills, experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, and GraphPad Prism

Demonstrated level of independence
