Position Summary & Role

The Senior Director and Head of Global Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), will have responsibility to develop and execute EHS objectives across the Resilience network. This leader will be responsible for oversight and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures in a fast-paced dynamic environment and influencing stakeholders across the organization. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, occupational safety and health, construction safety, environmental and sustainably across all Resilience sites. Serving as a member of the Engineering Leadership team, this leader will regularly interact with senior leaders across the organization related to EHS matters.

Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Manufacturing Officer, the Senior Director & Head of Global EHS will:

  • Lead the network of EHS professionals across the sites by establishing world class performance metrics and network wide action plans to address defined gaps.

  • Develop, advance and implement Occupational Safety programs including Exposure Risk Assessments, Chemical Hygiene, Hazard Communication, Biosafety Management, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation and personal protective equipment

  • Evaluate and act upon new and existing environmental and safety regulations, including Federal, State and/or City regulations

  • Ensure world class sustainability (electric, water, waste, etc.) are programs are consistently implemented and measured across the network

  • Lead Risk Assessment evaluations to ensure the identification of high risks and associated risk reduction corrective actions.

  • Provide due diligence activities related to EHS matters at newly acquired sites

  • Ensure EHS network programs are written, reviewed, and updated as required

  • Provide EHS review/approval for chemicals, capital projects, and site construction activities and implement network wide construction safety programs and measure success

  • Provide oversight for site incident investigations to ensure robust corrective actions are identified and corrective actions are implemented.

  • Establish, maintain, and continually improve a process where employees are encouraged, empowered, and enabled to communicate EHS related questions and concerns

  • Establish, track, and communicates network wide EHS KPIs and trends to monitor leading and lagging indicators; provides timely updates and reports to senior managements

  • Identify, assign, and ensure employees receive appropriate training. Ensure global training is established and maintained

  • Ensure regulatory reporting and permitting are completed accurately, approved, and submitted in a timely manner; and

  • Ensure business continuity and emergency response systems, policies and procedures are in place to manage emergency situations.

Preferred Experience, Education & Qualifications

  • Extensive leadership experience, including employee development

  • 10+ years management skills with experience building and sustaining sourcing teams

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and tools

  • Strong organizational and facilitation skills

  • A high degree of customer focus

  • Focus on immediate and urgent business needs while driving long-term strategic plans and capability & organizational development

  • Strategic vision and direction regarding issues that may have company-wide impact

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment.

  • 15+ years of experience in the biotech/life sciences sector leading industrial EHS programs

  • Biologics, Vaccines, Cell or Gene Therapy experience strongly preferred

  • BS degree in Engineering or Science related degree; and

  • Master's degree or MBA highly desired.

Our target annualized base pay hiring range for this position is $179,000.00 - $226,250.00. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
