The Role:

We seek a highly skilled and motivated research associate to assist in the implementation of high-throughput assays for drug product screening. The candidate will support both in vitro and in vivo screening efforts by utilizing various high-throughput automated platforms to directly support research initiatives seeking to advance Modernas pipeline and associated technologies across the Research and Early Development space, as well as various therapeutic areas. The candidate will directly contribute to evaluating drug product performance in the preclinical/research environment. The applicant will join the Platform Automation Center of Excellence (PACE) team, which resides in the Biological Science department. Candidates should be comfortable functioning in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, with excellent communication skills.

Heres What Youll Do:

Specific projects will involve collaborative interactions within a multidisciplinary group and across a diverse array of scientific areas. The individual will be expected to perform established assays to support current in vitro and in vivo screening efforts, with a primary emphasis on high-throughput, automated assay execution and associated data analysis. This is a basic research position that requires critical thinking, flexibility, multitasking, great attention to detail, and the ability to utilize an automated infrastructure to support the continued advancement and implementation of the teams screening capabilities and growing collaboration support throughout the Moderna ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate support for established in vivo screening assays (cytokine profiling, ELISA, various Fluorescence/Luminescence assays).

  • Support the team in the collection, analysis and reporting of data utilizing various automated high-throughput assays for evaluating drug product performance.

  • Document, analyze, interpret and present data to internal parties.

  • Accountable for project success and delivery of results in a timely fashion.

  • Closely collaborate with other members within the Biological Science department and broadly with departments throughout the company daily.

  • General laboratory assistance including ordering and receiving of lab supplies, preparation of reagents, and lab equipment maintenance.

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

  • BS/MS with 0-2 years of industry experience (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioanalytical).

  • Automation experience using liquid handling systems is preferred.

  • Familiarity with various bioanalytical platforms (e.g., Luminex, MSD, Ella, Capillary Electrophoresis, etc.). and Endotoxin characterization is preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a highly dynamic environment.

  • Capacity to multi-task and meet aggressive timelines, research and technology development goals.

  • Familiarity with general biochemistry/molecular biology techniques (ELISA, FACS, Spectroscopy).

  • Candidate must be curious in exploring new paths for drug discovery, bold in proposing creative experimental designs and ideas. Furthermore, the candidate will work collaboratively within multifunctional teams and must be relentless in pursuing successful outcomes.
