Director, Global Digital Web Experience Solution Delivery

The Role

This role can be based out of our Atlanta, GA location. Moderna is in search of a visionary, data-driven, customer-obsessed and growth minded leader to join our team as Director, Web Experience and Digital Solutions Delivery.

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a global web and digital solutions delivery for Medical Affairs/Patient portals. This role is pivotal to Modernas Digital First ambition. You will be accountable for building human-centered, frictionless and best-in-class digital experiences for our stakeholders.

The successful candidate must demonstrate success in leading and motivating highly skilled and high performing engineers, business analysts and project managers, while driving effective partnerships with internal stakeholders and external technical resources. She/He/They will have had experience in enabling seamless, integrated digital solutions and self-service experience across multiple channels including, but not limited to, mobile app, web, social, chat and voice. The digital product and solutions that you deliver will span from simple websites to complex integrated self-service experiences to mobile applications among others. This role requires dynamic range with ability to craft and see the big picture, while being comfortable with the nitty-gritty execution details at the same time.

Heres What Youll Do

• In collaboration with cross-functional teams (including but not limited to corporate, commercial, medical, clinical, IT/Security, Digital and creative agency partners), you will lead scope development, requirements documentation, concepting, design, prototyping, accessibility frameworks, user testing and technical development for all web/mobile/voice products required globally.

• Oversee and manage current outsourced partners as well as own all web content management systems (Contentful and Drupal).

• Partner closely with corporate brand, commercial and legal teams to develop, federate/embed and govern an enterprise, component-based digital design system to ensure brand compliance and efficient web development.

• Responsible for risk management and issue resolution. Enable proactive monitoring and continuous availability of sites.

• Build and lead a lean team of high performing and highly skilled team comprising of internal and external experts in content authoring, UI/UX designs, web engineering and QA/testing analysis.

• Lead solution delivery team from design through delivery, encouraging technical leaders to enforce best practices around SDLC to deliver high-quality and highly resilient solutions.

• Execute full lifecycle software development in partnership with internal and external resources. Foster an agile product management culture.

• Build and maintain efficient UI applications and components to support integrations with a variety of third-party systems.

• Develop and communicate clear execution plans to both technical teams and non-technical business partners.

• Ensure that all assets are designed and tagged to enable effective measurement and continuous optimization.

• Continuously monitor new technologies and improve our engineering standards by implementing best practices for coding, testing, deployment release management and ongoing maintenance.

• Own enterprise hosting and domain strategy, in partnership with the core IT/Security team

• Multitask and switch gears to meet changing priorities and tasks to accomplish goals/objectives.

• Work in a distributed team environment where team members are spread across numerous locations and often communicate virtually to deliver business features.

• Strategically influence, own, implement, and mature an agile operating model that ties to the enterprise operating model and approach

• Challenge and support your team to deliver lasting, scalable, and secure solutions that offer delightful user experiences.

• Oversee integrations, configurations, customizations with vendor solutions.

• Apply your technology experience to ensure that the best technical solution is delivered on time, as promised.

• Identify and overcome risks, blockers, and technology limitations to meet stakeholder expectations.

• Communicate regularly with stakeholders, understand their product/project KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), manage their expectations, and earn their trust.

• Be a strong influencer who values building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, enjoys mentoring, and can explain complex topics in simple terms

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering or related field preferred with 10+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience delivering software engineering solution in a highly matrixed organization

• Experience with modern tech stack and open-source technologies

• Extensive experience architecting and supporting high traffic global websites, including leveraging content delivery networks, load testing, and active monitoring tools

• Experience with enterprise web content management systems such as Contentful and AEM

• Experience developing voice experiences for Alexa, Google and Siri

• Experience developing native / mobile applications

• Experience with frameworks and tools to aid optimal site user experience including Observepoint, Tealium, Adobe Analytics, Optimizely, SEO, accessibility and dynamic content delivery

• Experience with automated testing strategies, build pipelines, and deployment systems.

• Experience mentoring, leading and developing a team

• Expertise in a variety of coding technologies such as; Java, Node, React/Typescript and/or .Net

• Good working knowledge and/or certification in current cloud-based technologies and solution patterns (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, REST, APIs, Data and Analytics Platforms)

• Prior experience in front-end technologies like ReactJs, NextJS, NodeJS, Web API and complementary business layer

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• 10+ years of experience in hands-on leadership and management of global web and digital solutions delivery teams/programs

• Experience and passion to work in a fast-paced Agile environment, delivering functional features in small time durations

• Understanding of AWS, Lambda, and cloud-based infrastructure

• Experience managing large offshore teams and 3rd party vendors

• Experience with budget management

• Solid understanding of software development practices and agile methodology

• Ability to lead complex projects, and multiple initiatives

• 8+ years of experience in modern web and application development (Next.js, React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and APIs).

• 5+ Years of experience on AWS/GCP/Azure

• Prior experience in e- commerce, B2B architectures is big plus

• Leverage technology standards and roadmaps to ensure IT solutions are best aligned to business and IT strategic goals

• Maintain relationships with key technology vendors in partnership with technology delivery team leads to understand and influence vendor capabilities, key trends, and product direction.

• Curiosity and willingness to learn, ability to develop technical expertise quickly.

• Ability to work both independently or as a member of a team, earning the trust both of customers and teammates

• Facilitation, negotiating and presentation skills

• Building cloud-native applications in private & public cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS) would be a plus

• Experience working in ambiguous situations
