Material Handler II is responsible for performing the following duties as they are delegated

Job Responsibilities (core responsibilities; include people management if applicable)

  • Maintain inventory of raw materials, process intermediates, finished goods, and spare parts by performing data entry in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Ensure accurate data is entered on the Asset Management Excel for Ology and Government property.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while complying to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other applicable process and facility requirements.
  • Operation of warehouse equipment as necessary to complete required day to day operations; e.g. operation of forklifts, stock picker, drills, hammer, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Store materials in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and/or internal specification requirement.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of warehouse operations to meet internal and external customer expectations.
  • Other responsibilities as determined appropriate by warehouse manager and/or company management
  • Must safely and properly handle materials/equipment in a manner so as to preserve the integrity of the material/equipment.
  • Perform basic problem solving and communicate issue(s) real time.
  • Adapt to a dynamic working environment, perform in cross-functional roles, work in various Team environments, and, when required, work individually with minimum management oversight.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Safely and properly lift 50 pounds.
  • Must display attention to detail.
  • Must have a clear understanding of the importance and have the integrity and ability to follow written instructions within a cGMP environment.
  • Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tacks.
  • Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from acceptable practice.
  • Follows established procedures on routine work, requires instruction only on new assignments.

Preferred Experience, Education & Qualifications (Education/Degrees/Certifications)

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience with a working knowledge of warehouse processes and best practices, such as receiving, inspection, cycle counting, shipping, and internal issuance of materials; preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required
  • Previous experience utilizing ERP systems a plus
  • Trained, certified or experience operating forklifts and any other warehouse equipment a plus

This job requires exposure to the following:

  • Noise (enough noise to cause the employee to shout to be heard above ambient noise level.)
  • Hazards: packaging, shipping, handling, or decontamination of blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM), including continuous human cell lines.
  • Hazards: packaging, shipping, handling, or decontamination of infectious agents assigned to risk group 2, including for emergency response.
  • Hazards: packaging, shipping, handling, or decontamination of infectious agents assigned to risk group 3, including for emergency response.
  • Laboratories, production rooms, waste holding areas, or other facilities where infectious agents are or may be handled or stored.

This job requires the employee to perform the following type of physical work:

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the employee sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

This job requires the following visual acuity requirements:

  • preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • determines the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
