The Role

The Executive Director (ED) Pricing, Tendering, Contracting and Operations is a senior and critical role in the MA&P and HEOR organization and will lead and coordinate all activities aimed at operationally enabling the successful execution of pricing, tendering and contracting strategies, achieving reimbursement, successful business-to business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) commercialization and experiences for Moderna products through key strategic capabilities including systems, infrastructure, processes and competencies.

This position will report to the Vice President, Global MA&P and HEOR.

Heres What Youll Do

The Executive Director Pricing, Tendering, Contracting and Operations is a strategic leader who will lead excellence in:

  • Pricing, contracting and tendering

  • B2B and B2G engagement and commercialisation including omnichannel execution and supportive planning processes

The Executive Director Pricing, Tendering, Contracting and Operations will:

  • Coordinating, improving and supporting the MA&P and HEOR delivery into key strategic, financial and operating planning and forecasting processes, performance reviews and investor information

  • In partnership of franchise MAP, HEOR and marketing team members, leading the development of novel contracting approaches including risk share and outcome base contracts

  • Defining and implementing MA&P and HEOR excellence processes including tender excellence

  • Advising on appropriate gross-to-net management strategies and tactics and profitability measures (break-even analysis, profit optimization analysis, trade-off analyses) for price and brand optimization

  • Integrating relevant pricing and utilization data and information from various sources to feed business case analysis, reporting, scorecards, etc

  • Assimilating competitive and customer insights to make data driven Pricing decisions

  • Providing analytical pricing support to the Market Access, Pricing Brand leads and Commercial

  • Supporting price-setting through pricing research using relevant analytical approaches (game-theory, behavioural economic insights), pricing research methods (Conjoint, Probabilistic, Van Westendorp, etc.)

  • Developing year-on-year trends and benchmarks using payer analytics reports, and conduct and create product utilization analysis and reports by customer segments, to build ROI models and competitive insights

  • Generating pricing solutions for affordability considerations (e.g. tiered pricing) in partnership with the Market Access and Pricing Brand leads

  • Developing analytical models to determine price strategies that maximize profit and revenue

  • Engaging with sales forecasting and analysis, market access, finance and contracting operations teams to build and develop internal insights and analysis capabilities to assess payer contract performance

  • Enhancing Modernas organizational pricing and contracting capabilities on the journey towards pricing excellence

  • Delivering of innovative digital and omni-channel market access and pricing capabilities

  • Collaborating with affiliates to improve commercial agreements strategically and operationally across channels (wholesaler/distribution, Tenders, Key Accounts)

Key deliverables/ output of this role include:

  • Creating and maintaining key analytical and governance systems (e.g. pricing/ tender system, forecasting system, content engines, governance system)

  • Developing, maintaining, and continuously improving a data enabled T&C and Price Volume management system and surrounding business and technology eco-system

  • Business process of tracking key MAP and HEOR deliverables, activities and KPIs

  • Developing and implementing the Global Pricing and Governance Policy

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • M.S. / MBA required; advanced degree in life sciences

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the bio/pharmaceutical/ and/or managed care experience and/or vaccines environment.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pricing, contracting and tendering functions

  • Experience in pricing analysis (impact of international reference price, business case evaluation, financial data interpretation and price modelization)

  • Experience in tender planning, shaping and execution

  • Experience in omni-channel execution and customer experience management

  • Experience in B2B and/or B2G commercialization

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • A comprehensive understanding of the US and major ex-US healthcare systems and reimbursement processes, and public policy decisions-making. Experience with HTA organizations such as NICE, SMC desirable

  • Knowledge of pricing approaches (e.g. Value Based Pricing) and Research methods (price elasticity of demand, willingness to pay, willingness to buy)

  • Knowledge of affordability considerations and solutions (e.g., tiered pricing)

  • Knowledge of impact of international reference pricing, cross-indication referencing and launch sequencing

  • Ability to apply profitability measures and break even analyses to recommend net floor price considerations, when relevant

  • Ability to create excellence processes and playbooks to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery across products

  • Ability to lead high quality delivery into multiple operating, financial and planning processes
