The EHS Manager, Akron Biotech, is responsible for the installation, implementation and oversight of the Akron Biotech EHS System. She/he will implement and oversee the selected EHS system for the Akron business and responsible to routinely report out on performance. She/he will report directly to the CEO of Akron Biotech and have matrix reporting to the Sarasota and Boca Raton General Managers.
Responsibilities:
• Management and reporting of safety and environmental metrics for Akron Biotech
• Develop, modify, implement, and maintain the Akron EHS system, policies and procedures
• Develop and manage EHS risk matrix- in partnership with site leadership teams, establish action plans to continually reduce EHS risks in the operation.
• Facilitate and lead investigation of accidents and injuries per EHS system requirements using established root cause analysis tools.
• Manage company training needs and develop & maintain processes to ensure compliance.
• Engage with colleagues and leaders in the organization to build/maintain an effective EHS culture
• Submit EHS regulatory permits/reports and maintaining compliance with OSHA, state and other applicable regs. Act as the company liaison with environmental and health and safety regulators
• In partnership with leadership at the Boca Raton and Sarasota sites, establish annual EHS objectives and oversee EHS councils.
• Evaluate the impact of new or changed regulations, standards, and policies on operations initiate and oversee updates to EHS policies, programs and procedures in proactive manner.
Requirements:
• BS in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety or other science related field.
• 7+ years of EHS experience and previous experience managing an EHS program within biopharmaceutical and/or chemical research environments.
• Experience in the implementation of EHS systems and programs
• Ability to travel between Boca Raton and Sarasota at least 25% of the time
Desired Experience:
• Experience working in biologics and/or the advanced therapies (cell/gene therapy) industry
• Strong communication and presentation skills
