Join Takeda as an Associate Medical Director, Clinical Imaging Scientist where you will ensure appropriate use and interpretation of imaging methods, in particular radiological endpoints, in clinical trials and serve as an imaging expert on clinical program teams and scientific point of contact for imaging vendors.

You will also provide a scientific review of imaging-specific clinical trial documents and contribute to building and maintaining a global external Imaging network for Takeda. As part of the Clinical Imaging, you will report to the Head, Clinical Imaging.

How you will contribute:
  • Serve as an in-house Subject Matter Expert in Imaging, especially in later-phase clinical studies and those employing radiological endpoints.
  • Build and maintains relationships with key cross-functional internal stakeholders involved in clinical development (especially, the clinical therapeutic area units).
  • Work with program teams and other advanced technology groups to optimally devise and implement imaging biomarkers in drug development plans and clinical studies.
  • Work closely with preclinical imaging group scientists to ensure smooth translation of imaging biomarkers and alignment between preclinical and clinical platform activities.
  • Represent Imaging on cross-functional Clinical Sub-Teams (CSTs) and Translational Sub-Teams (TSTs) to support imaging strategies and implementation plans.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to development teams about the appropriateness, utility, feasibility, limitations, and benefits of various imaging techniques.
  • Validate and operationalize imaging biomarkers to be fit-for-purpose for drug development.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of imaging in clinical trials by scientific guidance on the choice of imaging core lab and external imaging collaborators, input into study protocols and imaging-specific trial documents, and oversight of imaging conduct and imaging deliverables.
  • Enable the conduct of imaging studies across technological platforms and geographies.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of advances in imaging and assesses these advances for their potential value for Takeda’s portfolio.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable Takeda representative on imaging issues to external imaging experts, imaging biomarker activities, and consortia.
  • Contribute to developing external relationships with key academic imaging centers, imaging diagnostics companies, and imaging CROs.
  • Maintain a scientific profile in the broader community via participation in relevant conferences, consortia, and scientific disclosures.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree MD or MD/Ph.D. with imaging expertise required.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in imaging (post-PhD or post-MD).
  • Experience in drug development and/or design and implementation of imaging in clinical trials.
  • Cross-imaging modality expertise is strongly preferred (especially MRI and CT) including knowledge of technical fundamentals.
  • Advanced MRI experience preferred.
  • Experience in preclinical as well as clinical imaging is preferred, to facilitate translation.
  • Pragmatism to apply innovative imaging technologies in a “fit for purpose” manner in the drug discovery process.
  • Ability to engage in discussions on imaging biomarkers in innovative drug discovery from early preclinical through to late-stage development.
  • 10 - 15% travel required.

This position is currently classified as "hybrid" in accordance with Takeda's Hybrid and Remote Work policy.

Base Salary Range: $184,000-263,000, based on the candidate's professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and Paid Volunteer Time off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
