The summer internship program is a full-time commitment of 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

The PDADT Digital Platforms team sits within Takeda's OTAU Cell Therapies division and is focused on all aspects of digital data acquisition, storage, and display. The team builds R and Python based scripts to maintain connections to devices, databases, and file-based data stores. Once data has been appropriately ingested in our data warehouse, dashboards, reports, and web-based interfaces are created to provide lab scientists with greater insights into their data. This internship will focus on all aspects of data engineering and analytics work in support of our digital systems. You will have the opportunity to learn how the Digital Platforms team leverages cloud computing platforms (AWS), and participate in efforts around data ingestion, cataloging, and analytics. Your focus will be specifically on the following:

• Data Cataloging and ETL – Expanding our existing system to accommodate more data sources, expanding the detail/depth of the catalog generated for the currently incorporated data sources, and develop ETL pipelines including crawlers and python scripts to manage ingestion and warehousing of data concurrent to cataloging.

• Data Analytics – Developing user requirements and the analytical queries to interrogate lab data based on the user requirements and converting these requirements into a dashboard for repeatability and scalability, work with the team to develop key performance indicators for ongoing experimental data and implement automated analysis scripts to quantify these KPIs in dashboards for easy visualizations to enable benchmarking project progress.

This will be a hybrid role requiring the candidate to be occasionally onsite.

• Familiarity with Tableau, PowerBI and other analytics tools for dashboarding

The requirements for these two groups of candidates are specified below:

Candidates currently enrolled at an accredited university:

• Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship (i.e., Takeda will not sponsor interns)

• Must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week), within core business hours (8 AM-5 PM), for a minimum of 12 weeks during the summer months

• Minimum GPA 3.4/4.0

• Graduate, PhD, MD student with at least one year of university studies before internship

• Return to university for at least one semester post-internship

• Takeda does not provide student housing or housing stipends

Non-traditional candidates not currently enrolled at university:

• Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship (i.e., Takeda will not sponsor interns)

• Must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week), within core business hours (8 AM-5 PM), for a minimum of 12 weeks during the summer months

• Must provide a cover letter explaining why you are seeking this internship, relevant experience that makes you a good candidate, and what you hope to achieve through the experience

  • Strong preference for non-traditional candidates with some experience relevant to the desired intern role
