Join us as the USBU Ethics & Compliance – Advisory Lead, Medical Affairs, Patient and Market Access and Public Affairs at the Associate Director level in our Lexington, MA or Cambridge, MA office.

As the USBU Ethics & Compliance – Advisory Lead, Medical Affairs, Patient and Market Access and Public Affairs working on the Ethics & Compliance team, reporting into the Head USBU Ethics & Compliance – Advisory, Medical Affairs, Patient and Market Access and Public Affairs, you will be empowered to implement the USBU E&C Medical Affairs (MA), Patient and Market Access (PAMA) and Public Affairs (PA) strategy and be a member of USBU E&C, MA, PAMA and PA leadership teams.

  • E&C commits to act as a role model for Takeda's values, ethics and values-based decision making, fostering this mindset in clients, partners and team

  • Enable the organization to take decisions which are ethical and in line with our priorities of Patient, Trust, Reputation, and Business

  • Collaborate across all E&C teams and partner with stakeholders in BU / BF to embed ethics and compliance as part of the way everyone works at Takeda

  • Implement the USBU E&C program within MA, PAMA and PA, building key relationships with leaders, and working together with other USBU E&C team members.

  • Assist in ensuring USBU E&C has sufficient controls in place to manage company risks and align with regulatory obligations (monitoring plan, policy, procedure, training, risk assessment, etc.)

  • Help shape the MA, PAMA and PA mindset around Takeda's Values: Takeda-ism and PTRB (Patient-Trust-Reputation-Business)-Model to firmly embed ethical decision-making principles

  • Resolve issues and drive alignment with MA, PAMA and PA leaders concerning E&C or USBU driven programs (audit remediation, policy, process)

  • Drive engagement, growth, and development within the MA, PAMA and PA teams. Fosters a Speak Up environment and creates an approachable relationship with divisional colleagues.

  • Collaborate with other USBU E&C teams (including BU advisors, Operations, Monitoring, Investigations and Learning & Engagement) to support business operations and deliver on annual goals

  • Prepare materials for and periodically lead topics in USBU and US-Wide E&C compliance committee meetings

  • Contribute to global E&C program development (Code of Conduct, Speak Up, Values initiatives, Policies and Procedures, etc.)

  • Lead or participate in cross-US collaboration efforts with other US-based E&C functions

  • Increase business acumen by obtaining therapeutic and product knowledge to support current and pipeline products

  • Champion for Diversity, Ethics and Inclusion within E&C and USBU

  • External facing - Align USBU E&C Advisory engagement with evolving E&C trends (PhRMA, OIG, DOJ, SEC, PCF); Interact regularly with industry peers, co-marketing and co-promotion partners and vendors to help shape direction and detect evolving best practices

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of relevant legal and/or healthcare compliance experience, of which at least 2+ years in the US pharmaceutical industry

  • Bachelor's degree; JD, MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred

  • Solid understanding of state and federal health care laws/regulations

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders

  • Experience with laws, regulations and industry guidance that affect the pharmaceutical industry including, but not limited to, OIG and PhRMA guidelines, healthcare standard operating procedures, anti-bribery laws, and state price reporting statutes

  • Demonstrated ability to manage potential, present and future compliance risks related to the business, including risk identification, controls & risk mitigation of potential non-compliance

  • Experience in using ethical decision making.

  • Travel up to 20%

  • High interpersonal and communication skills including ability to assess risk, challenge and provide advice/ guidance to business employing a problem-solving approach

  • Works cross-functionally / collaborates / manages direct reports and matrix

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead change efforts through effective communication and persuasion, and leading without authority when applicable

  • Proven skills to transform ideas into effective communications and materials (presentations, written documents, email, etc.)

  • Consistently delivers results. Able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and priorities effectively

  • Able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and demonstrate executive presence while interacting with all levels of management, field sales, marketing, vendors and partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and regulatory information and legal advice

  • Able to manage complexity and ambiguity and to develop and apply pragmatic solutions to complex legal, regulatory and industry issues

  • Mindset of curiosity, learning agility and interest in innovative ways of doing things

  • Strong operations, process-orientation, data analytics, or technical expertise to effectively design, develop and implement compliance and relevant business processes, controls, and workflows
