Scientific Communications and Planning Lead (Open)

Support the execution of the integrated medical strategy for assigned therapeutic area including medical/scientific training, field medical resource development, medical conferences, and publications. Support Scientific Director for assimilation, dissemination and archival of all content developed for the assigned therapeutic area. Join Takeda as a Scientific Communications and Planning Lead where you will provide oversight for medical aspects of the Commercial - Medical – Legal – Regulatory (CMLR) promotional review process as assigned. You will also develop, maintain, and disseminate medical communication plans, oversee medical planning process for assigned area. As part of the PDT R&D, you will report to Head of PDT Medical Functions PDT Medical Affairs and work with key stakeholder.

How you will contribute:
  • Support activities within PDT Medical Affairs for one or more disease areas / assets to ensure quality and timely delivery against medical strategic plans.

  • Coordinate with the Scientific Director to monitor performance and delivery of medical strategy

  • Collaborate with the Scientific Director and procurement business partners to manage agency contracting and sourcing

  • Contribute to launch and life-cycle management of a medical unit by collaborating within the PDT Global Medical Affairs team for one or more disease areas / assets to translate medical strategy into medical communication plans and activities.

  • Accountable for the execution of assigned medical tactics derived from the medical plan(s) for the medical unit.

  • Coordinate and execute assigned activities for medical conferences including medical information booth presence, development of medical booth content, symposia, alignment of competitive intelligence, pre and post-meeting conference reporting and communication of relevant emerging data as directed.

  • Support the publication planning process based on medical strategies, publication obligations, and data availability; collaborate with medical affairs unit, medical publications agencies and external authors to ensure of execution the publication plan.

  • May provide oversight of agency partners to ensure appropriate execution of publication plans; ensure vendor partners are properly trained on Takeda Standards, SOPs, systems, and tools for appropriate and effective execution of responsibilities, including interactions with alliance partners, authors (internal and external), as well as company data-generators, and reviewers.

  • Develop internal and external materials for use by medical teams and ensure assimilation, dissemination and archival of content created for the assigned therapeutic area as required.

  • Resolve CMLR questions and provide leadership in concept design and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials.

  • Support the overall planning of activities through coordination of internal medical training programs, development of medical communication plans, supporting the medical planning process from end to end, and leading cross-functional and regional team meetings

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • A relevant degree is required. A medical or scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, MS or RN) is preferred.

  • 7 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, preferably within a matrix structure.

  • 5 years of experience within medical affairs roles (e.g. Medical Science Liaison, Medical Information, Medical Communications, Medical Education, Publications).

  • Experience managing vendors and complex projects is required.

  • Strong knowledge of medical communication/publication approaches and best practices is required.

  • Familiarity with international regulatory and legal guidelines regarding medical communication/publication strategy and execution.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Ability to drive or fly to various internal and external meetings.

  • Required travel approximately (10 - 20%), including international trips, overnight stays, and some weekend commitments.
