Summary

 

Precision BioSciences Summer Internship Program allows current students the opportunity to complete a combination of larger projects to solve a key problem and day to day tasks to better understand what a career in the given field entails. Interns will also participate in group learning and networking opportunities and enhance presentation skills through a capstone presentation at the end of the summer.

 

This position is a full-time internship, working 32-40 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks in the summer.

 

The Process Analytics Intern will work within the Cell Therapy Process Development team to provide support for established assays used to characterize Precision BioSciences CAR T cell drug products. This will require learning and adopting multiple assays for cell characterization and functional assessment. Other work will include a pilot project to assess two methods measuring CAR T cell cytokine production and secretion. This position is lab-based and will include sample preparation, assay execution, and data analysis in a timely manner.

  • Perform aseptic cell culture with primary mammalian cells or cell lines

· Execute established assays and analyze data according to SOPs

· Utilize such techniques as flow cytometry, immunoassays, and magnetic bead cell separation

· Work collaboratively with others as part of a coordinated team project

· Maintain an electronic lab notebook to document all experiments in a timely fashion

 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

 

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university program with at least three years of completed undergraduate studies in biology, immunology, or related field. MS or PhD candidate is a plus.
  • Familiar with general laboratory setting/equipment, including pipettes and centrifuge (required)
  • Hands-on experience in general lab techniques, like aseptic mammalian cell culture (required)
  • Familiarity with primary T cells (preferred)
  • Running and analyzing data from multiparametric flow cytometry (preferred)

· Experience with data analysis and presentation tools like Excel, Prism, and JMP (preferred)
