Are you looking for a patient-focused, innovation-driven company that will inspire you and empower you to shine? Join us as the Global New Product Lead (NPL) – Rare Genetics & Hematology (RGH) at the Director level in our Cambridge, MA office.

This position sits in Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS); the primary Commercial Strategy unit within Takeda. It is tasked with developing world class brands and strategies for Takeda's largest and fastest growing brands and pipeline programs across Rare Diseases, Gastrointestinal and Neuroscience. The team is tasked with helping to drive Commercial Innovation in the company.

Within GPLS, the Rare Genetics & Hematology Product & Launch Strategy Unit (RGH PLSU) is responsible for driving successful product strategies for pipeline programs and recently launched, high growth products, in close collaboration with the RGH Therapeutic Area Unit in R&D (RGH TAU). The RGH PLSU is currently focused on driving the sustained growth of HAE and launch in the transplant space, while supporting a strong RGH pipeline. The NPL is driving development and execution of asset strategies for pipeline programs and assessing commercial attractiveness and viability of BD opportunities.

How you will contribute:

The New Products Lead will:

  • 40% Leading the commercial insights and validation of pipeline assets in pre-clinical and clinical development.

  • 40% Providing commercial assessments of Business Development opportunities.

  • 20% Partnering with stakeholders to develop, refine and implement commercial disease area strategies (and technology platform strategies).

  • Provide strategic commercial leadership for pipeline product candidates in early and mid-stage development.

  • Lead the development of target product profiles (TPPs), digital target profiles (DTPs) and target product claims (TPCs) for early and mid-stage programs, based on thorough understanding of market dynamics and potential future trends.

  • Develop and communicate strong understanding of treatment protocols, level of unmet needs, potential patient segments, and competitive pipeline to identify targeted product concepts and necessary product profiles.

  • Direct / implement strategic commercial projects to inform clinical development and commercialization plans.

  • Provide commercial insight and analytical support for commercial assessments and high-level market situation assessments; represent the commercial point of view for business development opportunities.

  • Proactively partner with all relevant stakeholders across Takeda divisions (e.g. R&D, Regions, GMS, etc) to develop, refine and implement commercial disease area strategies.

  • Liaise extensively with internal and external experts to gain insights and identify potential opportunities for early-stage and late-stage clinical programs, pathways, and treatment approaches.

  • Translate key insights from scientific experts (internal R&D colleagues + external opinion leaders) into clear, actionable product or disease area strategies.

  • Ensure the required payer, provider and patient insights are obtained to inform clinical development programs and business development decisions.

  • Work with medical affairs, market access, health economics and outcomes research teams to enable the development robust payer and health system value propositions.

  • Be responsible for building and aligning the matrixed organization on the early Global Brand Plan, partnering with global and regional partners to identify and manage to gaps /opportunities.

  • Evaluate market environments, collaborate closely with internal and external thought leaders and key customers in identifying unmet needs and translate information into strategies to achieve short-term and long-term franchise objectives.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or science-related graduate degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical / biotech, new product planning, commercial marketing / sales and / or market insights experience that clearly demonstrates strategic thinking and deep analytics.

  • Must be a strong communicator, able to confidently present findings to top level executives as well as able to represent the commercial perspective to senior members within different functions of the organization.

  • Experience in rare diseases, gene therapies and/or hematology is desired, but not required.

  • Global and Regional/Country marketing experience, focus on product strategy, market development, and launch preparation

  • Ability to understand Global market trends, financial data, customer needs and assess competitive intelligence data

  • Ability to engage with science and manufacturing topics as they relate to overall product strategy with the capacity to lead / influence in cross-functional team settings

  • Additional desired experience: market access and pricing, brand planning, KOL engagement, strategy consulting, market research and / or investment banking

  • International travel, up to 15%
