Job Description:

CARR Biosystems is currently looking for a Field Service Technician reporting to Clearwater, FL who can provide customer satisfaction through onsite maintenance service, installation and training as well as phone support to our customers on our centrifugal separation systems. This position requires someone who can plan and perform a wide range of duties to install, demonstrate and instruct customer’s employees in the operation of company produced machinery at the customer’s plant. This role makes field service calls to troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning units according to customer requests and scheduling requirements.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer relations and interpersonal relations skills including a high degree of diplomacy.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret technical documents such as engineering documents, operation and maintenance instructions, bills of materials and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Additional languages would be an advantage.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with the potential of phone calls and simultaneous inquiries.
  • The ability to travel to customer locations worldwide. Travel can average up to 75% of the time.
  • Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs and modifications on the mechanical, electrical, or software aspects of equipment at customer sites to customer’s satisfaction.
  • Assist in the installation, start-up, checkout, and testing of new equipment.
  • Ensure the customer is adequately trained.  Instruct personnel at customer sites on the safety, proper operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment to improve efficiency of customer productivity.
  • Accurately and systematically troubleshoot and determine the cause of the problem and present or implement workable solutions through one’s own personal knowledge and research.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Assist Clearwater Assembly team in the role of a Machine Builder or Electronic Technician when working in-house as needed.
  • Provide remote technical support to customers from office.
  • Communicate information regarding changes made to customer equipment to appropriate internal departments so updates to technical documentation can be made (manuals, drawings, old program files, documentation, and in-house training program.)
  • Provide assistance in the updating of technical documentation.
  • Systematically identify and expedite parts requested by a customer as per CARR Biosystem procedure.
  • Research, identify, and collaborate on customer projects, communicating when appropriate.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Uses a variety of hand-powered tools and complies with safety regulations.
  • Communicates equipment issues and resolution to operators.
  • Operates machines through trial run to ensure that quality and rate of production meet specifications.
  • Trains customer personnel in adjusting, maintaining, and repairing machinery or equipment.
  • Repairs or coordinates repair of worn or defective machinery or equipment.

Education

  • A two-year post high school diploma/certificate in electro-mechanical technology and a minimum of 2 years related experience, OR a high school diploma and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
