Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • As a member of the Enterprise Digital (IT) team, manage an AI and automation themed product portfolio. Partner with UX/design teams and architects to define products and create capability roadmaps. Identify and onboard product owners from both the business and IT. Coach product owners and cross-functional delivery teams through the full product lifecycle.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships to identify opportunities and achieve desired business outcomes. Influence without authority, as most product owners will be staffed from outside of IT. Partner with value demonstration team to measure and communicate value creation and other KPIs.
  • Establish listening (e.g. voice of customer), engagement and measurement mechanisms to inform product experience development. Influence stakeholders to help focus their attention and prioritize investments to enable successful product releases.
  • Establish and enable a product development culture that values diversity, embraces inclusion and adopts a growth mindset. Partner as needed to drive continuous improvement of people, process and product.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • May act as a product owner as needed and will establish a cross-functional team of product owners over time. Comfortable with both Scrum and Kanban agile methods. Will help team adopt SAFe.
  • Assists in coordinating communication among product teams and partners. Works with broader program team to facilitate risk prioritization and mitigation as well as issue recognition and resolution.
  • Act as an evangelist of current capabilities, promoting existing products, establishing a portfolio roadmap, and establishing new value streams and product teams
  • Support product owners with market and user research. Generate insights that can be incorporated into product design.
  • Partner with service delivery and platform owners to establish a scalable operating model and efficient processes for product support.
  • Seek opportunities to establish shared platforms, components, and APIs to maximize agility and optimize generated value.
  • Assist in retrospectives to ensure lessons learned are carried forward in subsequent development activities
  • Ensure process compliance with GxP, SOX and other Takeda IT standards

CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE

This collection of products will be among the first that will have delivery teams staffed by Takeda’s Technology Capability Center (TCC) in Slovakia. This role will be influential in helping Takeda scale digital transformation activities

DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Broad understanding of technology themes and trends, including cloud (AWS), AI (Data & analytics, cognitive algorithms) and automation (e.g. RPA, Virtual Assistants).
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and experience in Agile methodologies
  • Willingness to partner with architects and other subject matter experts to learn about additional technologies as needed

Interaction

  • Comfortable working in a global environment that spans many cultures and time zones. Key hubs are in Boston, Zurich, Tokyo and Singapore and international travel may be required.
  • Comfortable working in a highly virtual, remote environment leveraging both asynchronous collaboration and real-time communication tools.
  • Interact with both technical and business stakeholders of all levels and with third-party suppliers

Innovation

  • Experience working with emerging technologies, and can adjust our implementation approach as they mature over time.
  • Capable of taking risks and acting with incomplete information. Comfortable with positioning partial objective completion and identifying lessons learned as success if internal or external factors disrupt product strategy
  • Can act as an agile process expert and coach as Takeda pivots to scaled agile delivery methods.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Business or other relevant graduate degree required
  • Experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, and/or Product Manager
  • 10+ years of experience leading a team using agile methods
  • Strong communication skills with ability to establish and share priorities based on value to the business
  • Experience working in a life sciences or regulated industry. Familiarity with managing GxP and/or SOX regulated systems preferred.
